Best book I've read all year. If you thought the last two books where good, this one tops them both! A conjuring of light is the only book that has gotten audible reactions from me in a loving time. I WISH I could read this again for the first time.

I needed time to think over this book, I think it was a great wrap to a great series. The best book in the series by far. Kell and Lilas are two of my favorites, and I absolutely loved hollands redemption arc. I’m not sure if he actually does die at the end of this story, but if so it was a great way to go. I think Alucard is also such an amazing character and I wish we could get a series based on him and his adventures as a privateer. Maybe his journey to originally get the inheritor, that would be sick. I think osaron was a great villain, and the way he was built up really felt satisfying when he finally was defeated. I’m devastated what happened to maxim and emira, although they had their faults the reasons for the way the acted were justified. I loved this series

After making the colossal mistake of reading the next book in the series a year after reading the first one, I am not about to wait until next year to read the final instalment in the series. Let me tell you, it flipping amazing. Sure, as per usual, there are several things that bugged me, but overall verdict, the series are amazing and I definitely think it is not a waste of my time. I will, of course, delve deeper into the things that bugged me, but once again, let’s give a round of applause for the series!
Now, before I start with the things that I like and I don’t like, let it be known that I can’t promise you this will be a spoiler free review, because I’m not well verse in not giving out spoiler, so if you’re adamant to not be spoiled, stop here and just trust me when I said that this book is amazing, and whatever reservation you have when you read the previous book, hear me out when I say, “keep on reading.”
Okay, let’s get on the good things that I approve of. First of all, the ending was just perfect. It didn’t necessarily picture the perfect ending where everyone is happy and life is one giant fluffy cotton candy. Each and everyone of our main characters went through a lot to be where they are, and I’m glad for them. The whole time I’m reading it,I kept on wondering how Ms Schwab will end the story for Kell, Lila, Alucard, and Rhy, and well it was not necessarily disappointing. Even the ending to Holland was something that I can accept, albeit begrudgingly. When it comes to Holland, it’s just very problematic because you just knew there was more to him than the bad guy we all thought it was, and I thank Ms Schwab for giving us Holland’s backstory.
Now, speaking of backstory, I’m gonna be honest. It’s pretty disappointing that we never get Kell’s backstory. I was furious that when presented with a chance to know more about his past, Kell chose not to. I mean, what the hell, Kell? Can we at least know where you actually came from? But, here’s the part where I sort of accept the fact we’ll never know for sure about Kell’s past; Ms Schwab chose to justify Kell’s decision not to know about his past by himself convincing that he already has a family, a brother, a place to call his home, he don’t need to know something he never had. Okay, I get that and I appreciate your decision Kell, but damn I still want to know!!!
Alright, whilst we’re still talking about characters’ backstory, here’s my first problem with the book. Who the fuck is Nasi and what significance is she to the story that we. the reader, had to read about her for two chapters (if I’m not mistaken)? Interestingly, Nasi actually means Rice in Bahasa Indonesia; I don’t know what this information will do for you, just like I don’t know why we must read about Nasi and how she’s small and she always try to be brave, bla bla bla bla. It is such a waste of words and pages, Ms Schwab. You could have used it for something else.
And then, what is up with the unnecessary death of my two newly loved characters? They are killed by what I assume as pirates? Fighting off the pirates means lives have to be lost? And these are actually strong men, they were strong enough to resist Osaron’s power! What the actual fuck? It’s like the death was in the story for the heck of it. Oh and whilst I’m complaining about Osaron, what the hell? We had two books circling on Osaron’s power and how it seems so impossible to beat it, and then what? Just a couple of pages and no more Osaron? Come on! And then, what’s with the unnecessary death of the King and Queen?
Oh and by the way, I still don’t get why the King feels the need to “sacrifice” himself. It did nothing to deter Osaron. Your death is fucking useless, King Maxim. Again, I kinda get the feel that Ms Schwab killed some of these characters just for the sad factor, you know? Just to made us cry, when we could have gotten by without the death. Why do you toy with our feelings?
Okay, complaining aside, I feel that I need to be fair that despite some aspects to the story that I’ve felt to be completely unnecessary and feels like lazy, the description of how Red London falls after the spread of Osaron power is just amazing. The description, the writing, everything was perfect. I feel the shivers down my spine imagining how Red London turned into almost nothing.
Okay, I feel like there’s still plenty of things that didn’t quite sit right with me, but I’ll let it slide, because the series were amazing and I love it so much.
