A novel that seemed to be plot-less at first but culminated in the disastrous consequences of small choices. It centers on girls living in an undergraduate dorm, their RAs and a professor/journalist who becomes engrossed with their habits.

A terrible follow up after Such a Fun Age. Great characters and nothing was done with them, which isn't always a bad thing but in this case it was. Felt like a ton of rambling for zero payoff. Wish these characters had been used better.

I worked as an RA during my undergrad, and I had a hard time with this book. People are not handed jobs in housing. You are always on-call with a partner, and you do rounds through your building. I have never heard of a dorm with suites for three people where one person gets a single room and two people have to share. The themes were very heavy-handed almost to the point of annoyance. I couldn’t figure out the dialogue. Do people talk like that or was this a style choice? I’ve never read “Yeah no I’m sorry” so many times. My god.

All of that aside, I found the ending of this book problematic as well. The whole scene with Kennedy and the pizza cutter was so improbable and far-fetched as to be unbelievable.
