fast-paced
The writing is engaging and Kiley Reid is so good at weaving story elements together. The story gets crazier as the book progresses and once everything comes together, it’s kind of like whoa, all those little details did matter. I had a little bit of trouble keeping track of the characters at first, but that’s not because of the writing, just because there are a lot of characters.
Thanks to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book took me forever to read and I’m still not 100% sure what the plot was supposed to be. Very disappointed considering I really enjoyed “Such a Fun Age”.
KR’s first book was good not great to me. So I wasn’t sure how I would like this one after seeing all the hype.
It was nothing like I thought it would be based on the description and my memory of her earlier writing (given that was like 5 years ago as well and memory is flawed).
To say I loved this book doesn’t seem right. I INHALED it guys. The characters were fascinating and unique and horrible and so tangible and flawed. They grew/developed in realistic ways. The book was maddening at times because there was so much we saw that each character didn’t. But I couldn’t put it down.
Funny, sad, awkward, painful, hopeful, realistic, authentic??? I need more writers to write conversations like she does.
