This is probably my favorite of the series (tied with the next book, Born of Defiance). The storyline starts a few months after the previous book, Cloak & Silence.

Kenyon typically writes strong female characters, but I found Sumi particularly endearing here. Hauk has been a great secondary character over the previous books and it’s so great for him to get his HEA. With half of the book set on a mostly-deserted planet, and despite being with Darice & Thia, Hauk & Sumi have a lot of one on one time to get close. There’s a bit of a fated-mates type situation going on, but not anything that takes away from their decision to be together.

Once they meet up with the Sentella - it’s an awesome catch-up on all the characters. The banter between them all is always fun and Sumi fits right in. I love that “the big finale” fight scene centers around Sumi.

Throughout the book I appreciate the balance of action, suspense, romance. This is one I’ve listened to many, many times.

Fred Berman’s narration is great. He has distinct voice for all the characters and his handling of all the various emotional parts is spot on.

Kenyon's novels are always a high point in my reading. I feel so at home reading about her characters and the amazing families that get bigger and bigger. Hauk and Sumi are both great characters to get to know better and I love all the inside jokes from previous novels.

OMG awesome beyond belief. I have no clear concise words for the greatness of Hauk and Sumi's story. Another masterpiece Sherrilyn. Can't wait to see who's next!

Another epic futuristic romantic adventure from Sherrilyn Kenyon in The League series. The last book was heartbreaking and while Born of Fury has a lot of emotion it’s not as gut wrenching. Hauk is used to being betrayed by family and knows that the only people he can count on are his brothers in the Sentella. As he journeys on a traditional Andarion quest with his niece and nephew he discovers Sumi, badly injured and in need of help. But he has no idea if he can trust this warrior woman and refuses to turn his back on her. Sumi has one objective, to kill Hauk. She never intended to become an assassin but she will do anything to project her daughter. As she gets to know Hauk and watches the relationship with his family she’s drawn to the man she sees before her. This kind and caring man is not someone that she can ruthlessly kill but she cannot send her daughter through the training she had to endure. As they slowly reveal more and more about themselves they find an ally, someone they can trust, which they need when the attacks begin. A really great story that fits in well in the series. Because the characters are developed throughout the series I do not recommend starting here because you would get a little lost. Really can’t wait to see where the series goes from here!

Great Sherilyn Kenyon novel, as expected. You know by #6 what you're looking for. It was cool to see all of Sentella working together and see all the old couples come back with how they're doing with their families.

I have to say, it's been super fun revisiting the Sentella members. Hauk has always been a favorite, and Sumi is so perfect for him.

I loved watching Darius come around, and Thia ... I have to say, I cannot wait for her book. I kind of hope Chayden might end up being her knight in shining armor.

I also loved how all of the Sentella and extended family make appearances in this book. One of my favorites!

So good! I've loved this series. It's full of tortured heroes and the men and women who are able to bring out the love and tenderness in them.

Sumi and Hauk are lovely together. They are favorites if mine.

Hauk is willing to lay his life down for all his brothers and all those he considers family. He has been treated very badly by his biological family his while life, even though he is fiercely loyal.

Sumi is a League assassin sent to gather intel on Hauk. She knows Hauk's older brother, Fain, and hates him for what she thinks he did to her sister. She has no problem spying on him. Especially because Kyr, the League high commander, has said she can get her daughter, Kalea, whom she has never met, back if she completes this mission.

But then she gets to know Hauk. He isn't who she thought he was. And so the story goes on.

Lots of twists and turns! I really enjoyed the story.

Born of Fury totally lived up to my expectations after reading the other The League stories! These crazy alien assassins and their mates truly made the story excellent!
