Pretty informative book. Covers a lot of ground, much like an Ultramarathon. Could be more in depth, but kept pointing to the authors site www.irunfar.com. Probably not a bad thing, though, because all the latest information can be found there anyway.

Nice summary of not just ultrarunning, but trail running in general. I loved the Forward and have asked my husband to read it so he can understand why maybe running far isn't crazy.

At one point, the author wrote a couple of pages about general information for crew, and then mentioned he gives his own crew an 8-page document of instructions. As someone with zero ultra experience, it's those 8 pages that would have been really interesting to read. Still, I took plenty of notes, especially in the first few chapters, and may use the training plan in the future.

Interesting enough, but I'm not planning on running an ultra yet. This might be why I'm having trouble getting into it.

I was disappointed with this. It was a collection of previously published articles from the website and magazines. The book lacked a sense of cohesiveness. I would not recommend it as a primary guide for someone considering ultrarunning.

Very useful book as I plan on my transition up to the ultra distance. I frequently wish I had a fellow local runner with ultra experience I could learn from. This is my source for that experience.

Go fast, turn left, drink Gatorade? Nope - run for you life;-)
