Clearly I should have read the blurb more closely than I did. This book is 85% smut, 10% self loathing internal monologue and 5% story.
Although it’s an easy enough read if that’s what you are looking for. Check the content warnings as it does touch on quite a few sensitive topics.

Well, I finished it... I have so many things to complain about with this book, I just don't know where to start. I'm going to just gloss over the fact that the story is virtually the same as Fifty Shades of Grey because I expected it from the get-go. It's also extremely badly written and made me cringe a lot as I was reading (the words 'creamy' and 'nubbin' aren't sexy and neither are oxymorons in description: 'spicy, clean male scent' - like a curry made of bleach, I guess?).

Let's talk about how harmful this book is... There's the lack of communication - I swear to god, why can't people just talk to each other. So many problems would be solved if people just spoke to each other instead of keeping secrets. Then there's the fact that Ian is incredibly controlling all the time and treats Francesca like she's a doll that he can just dress up and move at will. That's not how this sort of relationship works; even if it is your thing to treat someone like that, then there must be some underlying care for a person's well-being or it just becomes abuse. I can't see anywhere in this book where the care is prevalent and he respects decisions that she makes.

The main characters never discuss limits. They never discuss rules. She does something and then he doesn't like it so he punishes her (he's literally punishing her almost every time they have sex, which is frequently) - but how is she to know that doing any of the things she does will result in that? Perhaps if they communicated like rational adults we'd have a more reasonable book...

My absolute biggest problems with this book, however, are the instances silent treatment, abandonment and lack of after care. Ian wonders why Francesca gets upset after they've had a massive session and he's like 'okay, bye now, I'm leaving town for a while, see ya.' Really? REALLY? AFTER CARE = IMPORTANT. The neglect of this in these sort of books can be so harmful; why can't we just have healthy representation for once? Abandoning or ignoring people isn't romantic, why is it so often included in a 'romance' book?

Just one last thing; why is Ian perpetually hard and Francesca the virgin Mary-Sue sex goddess of anal sex? I genuinely don't understand it. They never had any issues with any aspect of sex - from virgin to deep-throat expert and anal sex queen in about five minutes. That's how it works, right, ladies? *Sigh*

Anyway, I'm sure that's enough ranting... Probably.

Because you are mine is the complete novel of the online eBook serialization following the love story between billionaire Ian Noble and art graduate student Francesca Arno.

I must admit that I was a little hesitate to start this book. Not all good things have come from fan fiction and online stories. Also the publishers have labelled the front of the book with 'If you liked Fifty Shades of Grey you'll love this'. While I read Fifty shades, I did not love it. So if this is anything like that, I was not really going to like it very much.

However I was proved wrong, which was such a good thing; as one should never judge a book by it's cover. I do love the cover by the way.

Ian and Francesca are right at each other from the start and their attraction never waivers. I fell in love with Ian, a true alpha male and a man who truly knows himself. He is every bit the secret billionaire and Francesca just seems to love the mystery that surrounds him. She is drawn to him and everything about him. However he is unsure about her, but love can teach us some great lessons.

Can't wait to see more about this couple. Their story is not over yet. I feel that it really is only just beginning.
