A very clever murder mystery set in one of those Very Dangerous Cozy British Villages. I couldn't help comparing these characters to The Thursday Murder Club. It's a very similar vibe but with a turtle as a main character.
I enjoyed the depiction of senior citizens maintaining independence amid their various physical and mental infirmities. The depiction of encroaching senility was particularly poignant. I would recommended.
However, SO MUCH FATPHOBIA. There are two characters, a little boy and a roommate who are fat, and the author just harps on it constantly.
And either the author or the translator have a limited vocabulary. If you listen to the audiobook, you may like me notice the overuse of "suddenly, all of a sudden," and other phrases. Get a thesaurus, Leonie.

Overall, I did like it. There was a LOT going on, many characters, many deaths and I probably missed some clues with the audiobook.  I liked the situational humor, the turtle Hetty, and actually the depiction of dementia and how these housemates take care of each other. I could've done with less of the grandson (thought this would be cf) and a twist fewer, I didn't catch all the explanations at the end. Hopefully the sequel goes into their backgrounds more, police, secret service, etc., I want to see them show their skills.
