An apprenticeship or The Book of Pleasures is a continuous flux of thought which starts with a comma and ends with two points crossing past, present and future with total freedom. What a ride! What a freaking transcendental, touching and transformative experience of reading the intimate world of interrelationships through Clarice's eyes 🫶

I would definitely read other things from Lispector, but this book wasn't for me.

I loved Lispector's style and found the themes very interesting, the journey that Lori is going through is deep and I could relate to her a lot.
I hated their relationship though and couldn't really get past that unfortunately. The gendered understanding of being man and woman were too deeply ingrained.

not for nothing did she understand those who were seeking a path. how arduously was she seeking her own!

i possess a deep peace, he continued, only because it is deep and cannot be reached even by myself.

could it be possible that at a certain point in life the world would become too obvious?

love for mortal life was killing her sweetly, bit by bit.

there was the sea, the most unintelligible of nonhuman existences.

just that, and indivisibly: everything.

to be what you are was too big and uncontrollable.

could love be giving your own solitude to another?
