this was SO much better than the first one, in terms of almost everything. Elisa was more of a baddie in this, which kinda surprised me. And we got to see more of her and Hector 😮‍💨💙.
Speaking of Hector, hopefully he gets saved in the next book 😭.
I..actually enjoyed this book. Everytime I put it down, I found myself picking it back up. Let's hope the next one is as addictive.

This book was absolutely incredible! Just as good if not better then the first! I adore Elisa, Mara, Hector and even Tristan thought it turns out that he won't be a good match for her. Her relationship with Hector is beyond incredible. He is so devoted to her that it completely melts your heart. I can't wait to read the final novel and (hopefully) see them together the way they should be. Ximenia did definitely start to get under my skin especially with the way she kept pushing Hector away from Elisa. In the end I was glad that Elisa sent her way so that she could make her own decisions without Ximenia constantly interfering. I am so freaking excited to read the next novel in this trilogy!

ARGHHHHHHHHHHH! Just shoot me right now! This book is insane!

This book is even better than the first. And I want to say that Rae Carson has come into her own in this book much like her protagonist. Elisa continues to grow, and grow stronger. And I love the vivid, imaginative world Carson has created. And oh my, yes, the swoon factor! Gah! When is the next book due out again???

This trilogy is just getting better......

I didn't expect this book to give me as much feels as it really did! I enjoyed this a lot!

EDIT (04/05/2017):
My gahd this book is still amazing! I love it even more now after rereading :D

Rounded up from a 3.5. This book definitely suffered from middle-book syndrome though I will probably read the last one to complete the story for myself. Gotta love/support my Columbus authors!

Really though, I loved the strong girl power stuff in here (as always), though I did feel as if Elisa wasn't being a strong queen at all
Spoilerwhich she did realize by the end
Spoiler. I just wanted her to do better, but I guess you can't have good character growth if a character isn't flawed to begin with, so there's that.

I did feel as if some parts got a little romance-novely and not unique or special in her descriptions, especially when she was talking about
SpoilerHector
. I liked her relationship development in the first book much better.

Again, I find it quite difficult to rate this. The plot, for some reason, is interesting enough for me to keep reading but it’s nothing amazing either. I have no problems with any of the characters but I also have zero feelings for the majority of them (except for Rosario). I’m not saying it’s a horrible read but I’m just not the biggest fan. I think it has something to do with personal preference rather than it being the book’s fault. I’ll probably read the third just to see how it ends.

It was even better than the first one! Watching Elisa's character development was one of the best parts of the book. You watch her grow from a naive, worried little queen, depending on so many people to a woman, a queen confident in herself and making strong decisions. Watching that transition was awesome. Also, watching the change in who she trusted and relied on made me really happy as well. Her decisions regarding Xemina, Belen and Storm made me so happy.
I also loved how short the end of the quest was. She gave you all the information you needed but didn't drag it out. She focused more on the different relationships and so on, which I felt was more interesting.
The love story was adorable. Seeing Elisa become more attached to Hector and his gaze constantly being on her was so sweet! Their problems were realistic and not contrived. You could see and understand why they both made the decisions they did, which made it so much more believable.
The ending was a cliff hanger, of course, but it resolved enough to make it a complete novel. It was excellently done and I can't wait to read the next one!
