I really wanted to love this book so much more than I did. I’m a sucker for a good beauty and the beast retelling. But I just had so many issues with it.
Ultimately I gave it three stars because I really did enjoy the story, the dynamic between the love interest and herself, and the underlying plot. I also plan to read the next ones because I absolutely need to know what happens.
What I couldn’t stand was the MC’s internal dialogue. I spent the first 25% of this book absolutely hating everything she said. Her interactions were so inconsistent that I couldn’t figure out what type of character she was. Something would happen and I would get sucked back into the story, and then she would have an internal conversation with an imaginary audience (wtf is with that) and I remembered how much I couldn’t stand her.
And don’t get me started on the swearing.
I love swearing, I use a plethora of swearwords on a regular basis. But the swearing in this book was like you gave an 11-year-old a list of swear words but didn’t tell them how to use any of them. It was so painful to listen to.
At the end of the day, she hooked me with the plot, enemies to lovers, and smut, but I’m still going to live the rest of my life hating this MC.

Well! I don't know what I was expecting with this book, but that certainly wasn't it! I definitely missed the 18+ bit in the blurb. Oh my.

Uhm SO spicy and super interesting world building. I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did! I ran to book 2!

Solid story - sort of a play on Beauty and the Beast. I would say the smut is almost in line with Rice's Beauty series - like abrasively smutty

Very quick, easy and little spicy read. The main character, Finley, reminds me of a modern day girl who walked into a fairytale world, how she talks and thinks is just downright hilarious! However, Hadriel deserves an entire book to himself, within the first five seconds of meeting him I already loved him. I have never laughed so hard throughout an entire book! The only thing I didn’t love is there is really zero resolution, but I’m looking forward to the second book to get some answers.

ugh

I read it all. I didn’t enjoy a single moment of it. The way the main character spoke really annoyed me. I’m so confused about someone wearing jeans and a t shirt but living in a castle in fantasy world. I finished this and removed the rest of the series from my tbr.
