This is a book that is quite difficult to review as I’m wary of accidentally giving away any spoilers so for that reason I’m going to keep this review quite short.
I very much enjoyed this novel and it’s one of those books that once started is very difficult to put down. I read it in a couple of sittings and in the time I wasn’t reading I was very keen to get back to it as soon as I could.
I loved reading about the close friendship between Grace and Charlie. It was obvious how much Grace loved her but also clear that something was gnawing at Grace and I was so keen to keep reading to find out what had happened.
I did feel that Grace was too trusting and forgiving, and it was a little hard sometimes to not want to have a way to push her into dealing with the people and situations that she wasn’t comfortable with. Having said that, the fact that she was grieving for Charlie adds the dimension of believability as grief can, and does, make people far less able to make decisions and to deal with things and this is what drew me to feel for Grace.
The further I got into the book and the more Grace began to question herself, the more I started to get swept up in her mindset and found myself feeling as if I was right there with her in the story. It became hard to figure out who could and couldn’t be trusted as I was absolutely seeing things through Grace’s eyes.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good thriller which will sweep you up in the story and will hold you right to the end! This is a great debut novel and I can’t wait to read Louise Jensen’s next book!

The Sister is out now!
Oh my gosh...anger. That's all I feel after finishing this, just lots and lots of anger. Not because the book was bad, but because the characters are just awful people. So many things could have been avoided in this story if people were just honest. And Grace...poor Grace! She got stuck in the middle of 15 different tragedies that she wasn't even really part of. I tried really hard to feel empathy for , but by golly, I just couldn't do it. And, even though I felt bad for Grace because she didn't deserve all of the things that happened to her, I found her irritating. Very much a 'woe is me' type of character who doesn't seem to want to move past losing Charlie and enjoys being miserable and being angry at others. Dan is an okay character - I would have liked him fleshed out a bit more, as we really only see him from Grace's point of view. I don't excuse his actions, but I don't think he's a terrible guy. I'm hopeful that , after finishing the book.
Can I just say, though...you meet someone who claims to be the half-sister of your dead best friend, and the first time she comes to your house for dinner you INVITE HER TO MOVE IN?!? WHO DOES THAT??
All in all, a good read. Interesting plot, very entertaining. Hard to feel sorry for any of the characters though...

Obviously, we find out that Anna was blackmailing Dan, but Dan wasn't the one who invited her to stay. That was Grace. All in all, a good read. Interesting plot, very entertaining. Hard to feel sorry for any of the characters though...
They eat A LOT of bacon in this book. Also 'feet SLAP the concrete' very frequently.
Kept me reading though, I wanted to know how it turned out!

This book was so predictable I felt I could have skipped every other chapter.
I thought the story line was 'meh' - I think I was just turned off by everything being glaringly obvious except to the main character of course.

Books like this make me wish for a 1/2 star. This isn't quite a 4 star, but better than a 3 star.
Poor Grace has had to deal with the loss of her best friend for the second time. First she mysteriously left. Then she mysteriously returned just in time to die. As she begins to recover from this trauma, she starts to feel like she is being followed and her boyfriend has become distant. But, Anna, Charlie's half-sister shows us and this seems to bring Grace a sense of peace and comfort. The book is not a solid 4 as it was somewhat predictable but the quality of writing and character development make it better than a 3. I'd say it is worth your time to check it out for yourself!

This was my first Louise Jensen book and I was impressed. I liked the writing style immediately. There was no waiting to get into the book due to writing style or story line. Both drew me in from the start. I liked the characterisation also. There were twists and turns, some I saw coming, some I didn't. I was drawn in enough to stay up to finish it, rather than go to bed and come back to it. Looking forward now to reading other books by this author.
omg what a brilliant book lots of twists and turns along the way can't wait for the authors next book to come out
Absolutely cracking and riveting thriller! Hats Off to the author for writing a debut book that reads so smoothly and engages the reader from the word go.How one person's manipulations and decisions can have such repercussions across so many people's lives and at the end so many others pay for it with their lives.A brilliant concept and heartbreaking to see the different lives getting affected.
