The Signalman is a government agent working for the Company, and what he has recently seen at a house on the shore of the Salton Sea has left him shaken. A cult leader had gathered people there to usher in a new age, but it might actually mean the end of the world. The Signalman meets up with Immacolata Sexton, an agent from another secret group, to exchange information. Immacolata has seen what is coming and hopes to stop it. But are they too late?
A weird, creepy novella that hints at bigger things with world-threatening parasites from beyond the stars. Unfortunately it feels unfinished, like just the beginning of the story but not the full story itself. This isn’t helped by every chapter being from a different point-of-view and time. I’m intrigued by the world-building though, and I’m going to read more in the series to see if we get more of the story. But this by itself is not a complete story. 3 stars still ‘cause the world-building is interesting.
