I love Amor Towles books and this one I truly think was amazing!!

Mayberry I’m being too nit picky, but having my favorite character who I thought was good…purposely overdosed and his companion tried to just casually keep getting his money.. I will say I loved how sally made her self comfortable and tried to get everyone to see her point of view and doesn’t fit the traditional. I like in the end what the brothers decided to do was make the troublemaker who kept leaving them stranded, I wasn’t a fan of him losing money and him Willing to die for it!!

I read a Gentleman in Moscow last year and while I generally enjoyed it, it was definitely a character study rather than having a real plot, and that’s not really my cup of tea. The Lincoln Highway has a great mix of well written characters and a well done plot. Duchess was my personal fave.

I think Towles is also great at making clever points while keeping the writing digestible - ie Sally explaining her preserves jar because “kindness begins where necessity ends” or the professors description of the hero’s journey and a diamond on its side.

I also liked the heavy use of Americana imagery and theming, maybe Lana del Rey would enjoy this? Also justice for “Dennis” lowkey, but maybe that’s when you get when you marry into an old money family
