What a great read. Kept me gripped throughout and the ending was totally unexpected. What a twist. Highly recommended.

Catherine realises that the book she’s reading “The Perfect Stranger” is about her and a 20 year kept secret. No one knows about what happened including her husband. Who wrote it and who left it on her bedside table?
I was pleasantly surprised how good this was. The blurb didn’t sell it to me but I liked the cover so I picked it up and read it in one sitting. It’s told from two perspectives, Catherine and the author of the book. The character development was excellent, the different perspectives of the two families affected, the detrimental effect of secrecy and how quickly lives can be destroyed.
I’d recommend this if you’re looking for a gripping quick read.

A brilliant psychological thriller with a fantastic premise - what if you discovered yourself in a book, a book that exposed all your secrets? Psychological thrillers aren't usually my thing, but I had to buy this one for the premise alone!

The dynamics of the two main narrators were brilliantly played, as well as the lesser narrators (in many ways, lesser). I suspected the truth, but I was floored by how it was revealed, how the writer told the heart-wrenching, gut-wrenching story and all the lies that had built up around it. I also like how, actually, I felt for every character even though I initially thought I would hate them all - the Gone Girl effect in reverse.

An excellent debut and I look forward to to what Knight brings next.

I was hooked after the first couple of chapters and from then on I couldn’t put it down. The plot unfolds in such a way that draws you in, and the narrative of the two central characters changes your feelings from one chapter to the next.

It’s also one of those books that is just the right length. Quite short but not too brief - and it doesn’t try to pad itself out unnecessarily.

This is a thought provoking read where perceptions of the truth depend on who you are listening to as the reader. You are easily drawn into the mystery at the heart of the issue and then become involved in how easy it is now to shame someone through the Internet. A great read and one that lingers with you, long after you have finished the book.
