Fascinating premise, but did not enjoy this one at all. Slow moving, and few twists.

A real page-turner, with a gripping twist.

A fast-paced thriller, full of unexpected twists and turns.

The premise is intriguing and the sole reason I purchased this book. "Imagine if the next thriller you read was all about you." The main character, Catherine, finds a book in her house that she can't remember ever purchasing. Once she begins reading it, she realizes that the story sounds all too familiar -- and she has the starring role. To make matters worse, she's not the only person reading about her long-kept secrets...

So much potential with this plot, but it all fizzles out by the end. What begins with hints of murder and betrayal ends with miscommunication and self-absorption. The twists were interesting, however the story is a slow descent from about a third of the way through instead of a rise to a suspenseful climax. This mystery is really just a look at how we can fool ourselves by twisting lies until they become something we feel fits our version of truth and the consequences of believing in them.

This was boring and still trying way too hard to grab readers' attention.

Really cool twists! I listened to the audiobook and I think that made me like/care for the characters more than I might have if I'd just read it. 4 & 1/2 Stars

On the one hand, I truly couldn’t put this book down. I couldn’t wait to finish it and see how everything wrapped up. On the other hand, it bummed me out so hard. I feel really sad and I would have a hard time recommending it to someone because I wouldn’t want them to feel bummed out too.

I had such a hard time putting Disclaimer down, it might as well have been glued to my hands. Catherine Ravenscroft, a middle-aged mom and wife, starts reading a book from the pile on her nightstand, with the slow-dawning realization that the book is about her. Specifically, an event in her past she has kept secret for years. Now, someone is taunting her with the story, threatening to upend her marriage, her career—everything she's worked so hard to build.

I thought I knew where the book was going, and I was a little uncomfortable with how close it came to slut-shaming territory—but, trying not to be too spoilery here, my predictions were wrong. Disclaimer analyzes how our perception of the truth and the truth itself don’t always line up, and how secrets have a way of festering over the years if they’re tamped down under a layer of shame.

This book was written very well. As a reader I was some on what was happening and then all of a sudden everything I thought was wrong. The story shifted entirely in the last 75 pages. It was written very well. The content I was iffy on the entire way through. Not my general genre but the writing made it worth it.
