Interesting book. I stopped reading when I felt it was just too out of date to go on. It did help me understand some of the string theory issues.

I could only get through around 50 pages a day before my brain began to melt, but man, was this interesting. Before reading this I was like “string theory is too crazy and complicated to be legit” but afterwards… I see why people are string theorists. Maybe I’ll end up one myself! 4.5 stars.

My favorite part of this book was the first section that explained special relativity, general relativity and quantum mechanics. The latter sections on the book, discussing string theory as the theory to tie quantum mechanics and general relativity together, were fascinating and mind-boggling. My brain hurt as I tried to understand and a lot of it was over my head. Overall though it was a good read, and the author does a good job of explaining tough ideas to the average person.

This is a good book going deep into the subject matter of string theory. However, after starting at a very basic level, it does get complicated. unless you have a degree in physics, you will find hard to understand half the concepts. yes, the author goes to great pains in explaining complex concepts through simple analogies, but believe me, you need an excellent imagination and a high level of concentration to follow them. that was the only disappointment.
Book is not bad per se as long as you can understand..
