This book was tough. I didn't necessarily learn something new, but Coates has a beautiful way of writing that really pulled me in. It broke my heart again and again, and yet it's a story of resilience. Should be required reading in my opinion!

So many thoughts swirl around in my head. I'm not sure how to articulate them so they make sense. The passion behind Coates' writing hits you like a wall. And the reality of the circumstances people of color face every day simply for being brown, black, yellow, red, tan...my heart cracks into dust. Coates clinches the desire within me to be fearless in the face of injustice. For the humanity of every single people who is any other shade besides white, it is our duty as humans to stand up and push back.

We only get one body. Any color, any ability, any culture, any religion, any gender, we have to take care of each other and ourselves.
