This book is a masterpiece,I'm still in a shock from the fact that the writer is a guy not a lady, because he could describe perfectly what a lot of women goes through in this period of their lives.I'm still astonished by the book.
Not anyone can understand the deep idea behind it,
however I wished that the lady in the book didn't lost her way that much
. but it's a good book only women will understand it

La protagonista no tiene ningún desarrollo personal, el libro no tiene ninguna finalidad más allá de contar la infidelidad en sí con todo lujo de detalles.
Thanks to a Goodreads giveaway I received this book from Alfred A. Knopf.
I have heard wonderful things about Coelho's novel "The Alchemist," as well as Coelho as a writer. I was very excited to read this book and ended up being sorely disappointed. I felt no desire to follow our unsympathetic, adulterous main character no matter how well Coelho draped her in flowery, beautiful language. But he is such a talented writer that I actually felt guilty not showing her more empathy, and then I have to remember she is not real. She is a fictional character. Hence the generous rating.

Paulo Coelho is indeed an experienced and loved novelist but I found this novel of his as a cliché. From the very start the confusion in the mind of the woman has begun and was not settled in any part of the story, even after getting what she wanted. First, she was not satisfied with a loving and rich husband, perfect children and a respected job. She basically wanted to explore herself but was not satisfied by the way she got that. She thought that having an affair with her ex-boyfriend, who was also not happy in his married life, would be adventurous. After that, she realized the importance of keeping her family’s trust at place and wanted back what she had at the beginning. But at the end it was stated that she have to live with what she was bored of. I think that no one in this novel was actually happy with their marriage, even after having whatever they desired for!
Also, the story turned to different examples which were not at all relevant. They were her thoughts she used to imagine when she wanted to distract her mind. But her mind never got distracted! And all those irrelevant pieces make you lose interest in the novel.

Honestly so disappointed in this book...it’s obviously written from a man’s idea of a woman’s experience. I’ve always loved Paulo Coelho but this book has tainted my view.
