Cute supernatural high school story! Working through conflict about mistakes, casual trans mention, complex character backstories, and the best fat Black goth girl 😍

This comic was described as Riverdale meets Stranger Things and I'd definitely agree. We get ghosts, high school drama, and a mysterious creature in the woods all in one! The comic starts off a little clunky with personalities and pacing, but about halfway through the story starts to take off. Tony is the high school's track superstar while Eli is just a quiet loner. The comic starts off like any other high school drama, until a hunting trip goes awry. This is just the first in (what will hopefully be a series) and I'm excited to see where it goes!
As a side note: It was also nice to see some disability representation with Tony's asthma and Eli's autoimmune disorder, and adds an extra dimension to the story and their characters.
Thank you so much to the publisher and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!

there was ZERO chemistry in this book. Eli is the worst love interest ever. Very forgettable characters. I wish Tony's witch-girl friend was developed more but that's the least of my issues. I do have to say, the art style was beautiful and the story (on paper) was solid.

This was a quick, easy read—definitely manageable to breeze through in one go. I liked the art style and appreciated the diverse cast of characters. However, I think what fell flat for me was the execution. I did not have a strong grasp of the plot and I had a hard time understanding the relationship between the characters. Still, it was a fun read. I just felt like some parts weren’t fleshed out enough and therefore left the reader with too many questions, or at least not a satisfying amount of background.
