This is a sprint of a book I finished in one day. I laughed, I cried, I threw the book across the room, I giggled like a schoolgirl. 4 stars because some of the workplace antics were just a little too out there for me in a book that I actually thought was grounded in terms of communication between Lucy and Josh!

If you can move past the usual crap (tiny, flighty, artsy girl who trips over her own feet meets very tall, polished, serious guy with daddy issues), you will really enjoy this book. Maybe I was in the mood for something really tropey, or maybe it's been awhile since I enjoyed a m/f romance, but this flighty, funny story charmed me. I'm a sucker for office romances, so that probably had a lot to do with it. I could point out the slightly problematic stuff but I won't. I needed something easy-breezy to get my head out of politics for awhile and this one fit the bill.

✨ The Title/Cover Draw:
Lately I have been trying to read more “love to hate” books, especially having loved The Unhoneymooners and Shipped.

I hate to start off 2022 with a DNF but this book just is not it. The main lead is such an ass. You got jealous so you act like a jerk? Sorry no. That might be attractive to some but it’s not what I’m looking for in a love story

It was ok…
(Though I kept yelling at them both about how “dumb” and “dense” they are and how confused I was about things a lot lol)

I honestly enjoyed this book so much more than I thought I would. I don't often read adult romances, or romances at all, because as much as I love romance being a plot/sub-plot point in a book, I don't necessarily enjoy it as the main event. But, I thought that Lucy and Josh had enough to their characters outside of their relationship to one another that I thoroughly enjoyed myself while reading. Hate-to-love romances are one of my favorite to read, and I thought Thorne handled it well and didn't make readers bored with the pacing of their relationship. A couple critiques I have is that I felt as though Lucy would say the exact same thing a couple of times, which I found unnecessary sometimes to even say once--let alone multiple times. Another thing, it was sometimes unclear why the stakes were so high with the interview process, especially since they no longer hated each other.
