UGH I really wanted to love this one! I was so intrigued by the pitch (sapphic enemies to lovers with magic and witches and monsters!) but ultimately it just didn't deliver. I still enjoyed it - hence the 3 stars - but there was so much wasted potential here. In particular the plot felt pretty bare, despite being tightly plotted? There were no lulls in action necessarily, the action just wasn't interesting and I never fully found myself invested in either Marynka or Zosia's stakes. It's an easy read but I was definitely expecting more.
I'd also say that it reads more like the first half of a plot, rather than a finished novel. Threads were resolved by the end but it didn't feel satisfying because the plot was so simply. Really disappointed in this one.
