This was my first David Sedaris book. This is a book I didn’t know I needed to read. The truth with a hint of crazy. I laugh out loud and also felt my heart strings being tugged in every direction. A must read if not just for a eye opener between other books.

Every time I start a new David Sedaris book I wonder if this will be the one that isn't funny. And I think, it'll be okay. I'll still love him. But he didn't disappoint with Calypso, it might actually be my favorite. Too many hilarious moments to recount but at the top of the list is his obsession with Fitbit and asking people in other countries what they yell out the window when they are cut off in traffic. I made my daughter listen to that one so that she has some good ones in her arsenal.

3.5– I read this one disjointedly and I think I would’ve liked it better if I hadn’t because I never got super invested in it. It was a great mix of funny and serious and went quickly when I did sit down to read it. Not the best memoir / short story book ever but definitely engaging

I'll listen to anything by David Sedaris. His essays are honest and so relatable. He just says the things that I find myself not able to say out loud. His essays are truly outstanding and always bring so much joy to me.
