This sick and twisted story was so much fun. I didn't want to stop listening once I started. It was a quick read, which kept me wanting more. It left me wondering what I would do to get everything I ever wanted.

Cadaverous is a wild and demonic story about teen Gaige Penrod, who wants to be the best musician he can be. Him and his friends have a garage metal band and are hoping to hit the big time. Gaige goes to an Ozzy concert and sees an unexplainable dark presence upon the stage that appears to reach out to him. He then becomes obsessed with learning about the occult. In the pursuit of fame, he makes a wicked deal with the shadowy figure. He soon realizes he must go to great lengths to keep this entity in his pocket.

Jay Bower did an amazing job with this story, and I am excited to read more from him.

Cadaverous is a story written up as a journal (blog) type format which was a new thing for me that I quite enjoyed. It’s filled with heavy metal, demons and the one who wants to sell his soul for fame and fortune type of trope.

The main character Gaige was extremely well written, full of teenage angst (which you can feel while reading) struggling to leave his abusive father and make a better life for himself. I’m not giving more of the story because it’s a book that should be read with spoilers.

This was my first book from Jay Bower and from the moment I looked at the cover to the fish chapter I was hooked. You can see that the author did a lot of research beforehand (demons, summoning, incantations and music).

Definitely worth a read!

What a great story! This is my second book from Jay Bower and it didn't disappoint!

We follow the story of Gaige and his friends (and their band) and the intriguing and full of surprises Lisa after the main protagonist Gaige, comes back from a concert during an eclypse. What he witnesses there changes him forever and his desire to runite the band and reach fame starts growing so much that takes over his entire life, in ways darker and weirder than he ever expected! When Gaige realises what fulfilling his dreams entails, he doesn't blink twice and start stepping into his destiny without realising that he's part of something much more dangerous and destructive!

I loved the music theme throughout the book and the references to badass bands and songs that reminded me of my teenage years and the characters in the book also reminded me of that yearning feeling for something more and bigger, with the always intriguing lure to the sinister.
I also liked the structure of the book from a research point of view, but I won't tell more to avoid any spoilers.

I'm sure anyone who likes horror would enjoy this book, especially if you're a fan of metal and know the feeling of getting high on music!

This was surprisingly good

I must admit I wasn't real keen on a book involving a band but I ended up really enjoying it. I liked how it was written kind of like a confession...kinda. This is the second book by this author I have read and I look forward to reading more. He has a very unique way of telling a story which is very refreshing.
