The first part of this book carried. I liked the dynamic between Sophia and Lucy, I liked Jeremy's simpiness.
The wardrobe scene where dude was both having an existential crisis about wanting Lucy to see him while having sexy times is weirdly riveting.

I asked the esteemed Sarah MacLean herself, during an IG story request, to recommend one of my favorite tropes- older brother's best friend and this was her recommendation. It did not disappoint. I think the older brother's best friend is one my favorite tropes, because it lines up so similarly with my ultimate favorite enemies to lovers. This book features all the good points: flirty bickering, a headstrong young woman, a stoic man, and of course a lot of miscommunication.

I haven't read a lot of early Tessa Dare and this was very uniquely her and it was fun to see where her style came from and how it has developed.

It really is a 4 star read because the heroine is immature at times and I'm not a fan of the way the separation stretches in the middle, but this is 100% an id read for me so how can I not bump it to 5 stars on my fourth read?

DNF at 9%. The premise was intriguing, the execution didn't work for me.

just not feeling this one… characters became so annoying mid book and i truly didn’t care about what was going to happen anymore. started off with a bang but ended up flopping.

Wow, I had a great time with this book considering it had a forbidden romance (brother’s best friend) and a manipulative female lead (trying to break up another relationship), both things I tend to dislike. However, Tessa Dare has a way of creating characters that make me empathize with them even if I want to knock some sense into them (I wouldn’t call it miscommunication, more a lack of communication, and even though it was sometimes frustrating, it was in a satisfying way that felt true to life). It sometimes fell into the trap of instalove or equating passion and love, but I did like the discussions about them. The leads as individuals were a bit much, but I did feel like they were well suited and liked that the plot went in ways I wasn’t expecting. I definitely liked the second half more than the first, seeing them navigate issues as a couple. I am glad I read this debut of hers and am excited to delve into more of her backlist after this one. 👥⚖️🗝☁️

I adore this book. It was a great first read from this author and now I can't wait to read more.
I love romances that focus on a couple that has always known each other but may not have always gotten along. I do like the add in of Toby being the other love interest knowing she loves him but is actually i love with someone else. It adds in a complication along with the friendships between the men makes the development of the relationship all the more interesting.
