I finished this book two days ago and needed a moment to sit with it before writing a review, because honestly… I still don’t know exactly how I feel.
Yes, I understand how two people can fall in love while being held captive; trauma bonding is real, and when it’s the only human connection you have, it makes sense. But I struggled a bit with how quickly it turned flirty and sexual. Like… how do you even have the mental space for that while you’re literally trapped in a basement by criminals?
Then there’s her husband. He thinks she’s dead, so he ends up falling for her best friend? And then after she survives and makes it out, he helps turn her in again just because they captured his new love interest? What?! I couldn’t wrap my head around that. It felt like a betrayal on every level.
And then… she becomes a stripper? That’s the part that really threw me. They used to talk about that while she was held captive with Isaac, and now that’s who she becomes as a way to cope with the trauma? I mean… if that was her way of surviving, fine, but it felt like a strange, full-circle moment that didn’t fully land for me.
Also… Isaac becoming her stalker? Yeah. That happened. Sometimes, I felt the chemistry between them, and other times, I was just thinking, “Girl, this is not it.”
The story had potential, and there were definitely parts I enjoyed. But a lot of it felt chaotic, and not always in a good way. The plot leaned a little too messy for my taste. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either — I’m giving this one 3 stars.

This was my first book by both authors and certainly won't be my last!
The book was captivating, suspenseful, and had just the right amount of believable spice.

My rating would have been up in the 4s, until the last 90 percent of the book. I liked that I didn't know where things were going from moment to moment. The characters were decent.
I didn't like the part that took place in the future. It felt goofy and unnecessary. I also thought the climax of the book was lacking.
