I listened to the audiobook while renovating a bedroom, and I think it made my brain swell. It feels like it was written by an elementary school student who’s mom changed a few lines to make them overly sexual. There’s also a possible rape? But that doesn’t really get cleared up. It’s just, not something I would have finished if I wasn’t covered in paint and busy doing other things.

Needed a fluff book to get back into reading and this was available at the library. It was fun enough, though at times I wanted the main character to get a grip and focus. I guess there's something to be said for not letting fate or the universe bulldoze your entire life. But really...

This was fun fun hahahaha. My first ever Janet Evanovich book and just really fun. There was monkey, ninja cat and all.

Having read all of Janet's Plum books, I was pleasantly surprised with this read. Firstly, this isn't a 'mystery/whodunit" type of book, like her Plum books. Therefore her 'formula' for writing is perhaps a bit new to her with this freshman book of her series. Because of this she loses some steam in a couple of spots. The story she told and the world she is just starting to create peeked enough of my interest to keep reading.

My only real complaint (more like thought) was that I wish she would have written the book from Diesel's POV. That would have made her relationship with Lizzy a bit more believable. However, I get that she is writing Lizzy as her heroine so that she can set up some conflict with Diesel - I see a love triangle in her future, will she fall for Wulf? There's so much to Wulf's story that has yet to be told and though Wulf was introduced as the baddie, there were plenty of interaction to lead you to believe he isn't all that bad of a guy - he just doesn't play by the rules (Remind you of anywone!? Cough. Ranger. Cough.)

I liked the parallel to the Plum world and the questions it brings up. Is it coincidence that Diesel has unlimited access to a BLACK PORSCE both Turbo and Cayenne from nowhere? It's fun that the food of choice was the 'grilled cheese' which was introdcued in Plum Spooky (I think) when Steph would make them for Diesel (he seriously should make his own sandwiches though). Carl the monkey however, I could do with out. The zany animal comedy has it's limits in my book. And though I found Cat to be a perfect addition, overall I think that the Bob/Rex pet duo is the better one. And though many have reviewed "Glo" poorly, I might be the only person on the planet that likes her more than Lula already. Lula was like nails on chalkboard to me.

I'm pretty excited to see what's next!

I've never read anything by Janet Evanovich so I decided this was the year and was not disappointed! I really liked the writing. It's fun, playful, and told a great story. I will probably continue this series.

I wanted to like this. Evanovich’s books are usually funny, fluffy and a good thing to read when you need a break from life. The problem is this one was trying too hard. The characters feel recycled and Diesel comes off as rapey rather than sexy.

Skip it.

This one's not a Stephanie Plum novel, but does feature Diesel, that six-foot-plus tall yummilicious babe-on-a-stick*. Instead of bothering my gal Steph, Diesel's trying to get Elizabeth Tucker (Lizzy) to help him find the pieces of one of the Seven Stones of Power. A Stone exists for each of the seven deadly sins, and it just happens that the one in Salem is for Gluttony.

Someone else is looking for the stone too though, and things gets a bit crowded around Lizzy. Mayhem quickly erupts, especially when she finds herself with a one-eyed cat and a finger-flashing (you know which one!) monkey named Carl...

Character: I like Lizzy, and even if she's not quite as endearingly klutzy and inept as Steph, she is entertaining. She's especially entertaining as she succumbs to the bits of the Stone that she and Diesel find... Her sidekick's Gloria, who thinks she can cast spells out of a magic book. And who knows, maybe she can! Lizzy's boss is Clara, who's sane. Have I mentioned sane? Sanity is required when one of your employees is casting spells at your customers and the other is hanging out with abnormal pets (see monkey reference above). The "guest appearances" are by the four siblings who inherited the pieces of the Stone, and out of the four I liked Shirley best. Sure, she was introduced first, but she's also the one who made me laugh the most. Then again, it's not like she could help it. You'll have to read the book to find out what I mean. *grin*

Pace & Plot: There's no vehicular post-mortem to analyze here, but there is a house that's blown to bits, monkey-puke, and lots of funnies. All of which keep the action moving at a brisk pace, and if there were any plot deficiencies, I definitely didn't notice it.

Janet Evanovich's Wicked Appetite is full of the same humor and goofy silliness that I love about the Plum novels. Not a bad way (at all!) to spend a few hours this winter.

At first, I was skeptical. The description on the jacket seemed like someone had a bunch of random thoughts and threw them all together. I stuck it out, though, and got hooked. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more.
