在还剩三分之一处弃了书，翻译里的低级错误一箩筐，尼采、卢梭、比利牛斯山这种常识性名词都可以出错（并且没被校对出来），让人很难相信非factual部分的文字能如实表达原意，也就很难沉下心来看下去。而且平心而论，翻译准确度不提，这一本的译者的文字功底明显不及同系列的《古道》和《荒野之境》。

书的主旨一如副标题，“恋山史”。包括作者自己在内的被高山吸引的古往今来的人们，一面清楚地知晓下一秒钟可能就葬身冰崖雪沟，一面控制不住地继续朝上攀爬。冰川默默保存下一部分倔强的尸体。

总之，还是因为“山在那儿”吧。
