I was not expecting this to be so good. It was amazing.

Henry plays himself off as the happy-go-lucky trouble-maker, but he has a lot of fear and trauma that he hides pretty well. And yes, he does have a lot of flaws, but I still fell in love with him, and how he genuinely cared so much about the people around him.

I really liked him and Percy together. They were really cute.

Henry had to learn some lessons in this book, but I think he got so much better and grew in this book.

I almost cried at the scene when the pirate taught Henry how to throw a punch. I love him so much and I’m such a sucker for the adoptive-father trope 😭

I enjoyed a lot of this book, but in the end, I thought it went on for too long. I liked Monty, Percy, and Felicity and I thought that Monty could be hilarious at times. I really loved him a lot. I understand why so many people absolutely love this book, but sadly it was not my favorite. However, I would definitely recommend it because I can see many people loving it.

4 stars

This whole book is filled with yearning of being in love with the same sex when it is even unspeakable of being gay.

The plot was really unexpected, I thought this was going to be somewhat.... like brigderton in the sense of how they meet. Other than that, I was kinda off put by the settings change but it kept my interest throughout the book.

Lord If Henry can run around butt naked in the fields of The Palace of Versailles, he beat social anxiety. (fun fact about Versailles, people used to shit everywhere on the floor)

The characters were charactering, the plot was plotting and the lore was loring.

This was a fun romp. Yes, that's right, romp. Will read the second book starting now.

I was not a fan of the white saviorism that was wrapped up in the story, though two characters did criticize it. I absolutely ADORED hos long it two the two main boys to confess their love to each other.

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue - ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue is the unforgettable escapade of Lord Henry “Monty” Montague, a charming young scoundrel who fully expects to carouse his way through his Grand Tour. However, Monty’s plan for one last hedonistic hurrah with his best friend and secret crush, Percy, quickly turns into a harrowing manhunt across eighteenth)century Europe.

Plot: very bleak at some moments, more action from the middle on. A little bit far fetched for my taste but I really like the concept. Overall, it’s a good story. Good, not great. There were moments where I thought to myself ‘I should be laughing at this’, but I didn’t find it that funny. It might just be my bleak sense of humour.
I love the queer representation, especially the lack of… repulsion towards it for the time the story is set in. It seemed to be a genuinely accepted fact that men could love men. Or I just didn’t read the story right (probably).

Characters: Monty is annoying most of the time, but it has a certain charm to it. His ‘higher than thou’ and ‘life of the party’ behaviour is probably a trauma response because of his father and wanting to hide how deep his trauma goes and you know the drill I love how Felicity is the voice of reason almost all the time. And she’s sassy, bonus points for that. Percy is an angel, must protect at all costs.

Ending: I loved it. It ended on such a cute, positive, heartfelt note and that definitely influenced the rating. It seemed a rather closed ending though, and I know there are more parts to the series, so I’m very curious to see how those worked out.
