All right...these books seem to be trying too hard to be harry potter. I mean, they are always running...always in some situation that they cannot possibly get out of...and then they do. They are always on the brink of dying. I don't know, it's just one thing after another and it's kind of ridiculous, like its trying so hard to be exciting it fails. OK for kids, which is who it's written for I guess, but the potential is there...it just isn't reached
The plot is still interesting and reads like one huge story and not three versions of the same one. However I feel like the author uses the same catch phrases multiple times in his series which does make me question the originality of the writing itself. It makes portions of the story feel more rehearsed and less organic. But I'll probably keep reading for the storyline.

Okay now that I've gone on vacation and read this series I find that there are times when I wish it were written a smidge better. I understand, we have to recap what's happened in the previous books but I almost feel like we spend so much time recapping that actual story telling is only 20 pages long. I still enjoy the story line and I would still recommend it for anyone who has been in a committed series relationship with a seriously heavy book just to lighten up your mind and to move forward into less trivial situations and dramatic outgoings. This series has potential to be very riveting which is too bad the author didn't do more with it but I digress, it is still an excellent read. Especially when you just want something light and fluffy to snuggle up with and you don't really need to remember what happened in the last chapter or wherever you left off because the book will remind you shortly.
Allow me to begin by saying that "holidaying" is not a word I envision Machiavelli saying. It's just not a word. Beyond this poor word smithing, I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the next one. I hope future battles prove more dramatic than those between the twins and the Archon - they just seemed to easy. What kind of Archon just sinks into a giant mud puddle and is out of commission?
