Another favorite YA series of mine have come to the end. Although I’m sad that the series is over, I thought Carter did a good job of concluding the tale of Henry and Kate. It wasn’t the best of the series, I feel like that distinction belongs to The Goddess Test, but I still enjoyed it.

The beginning felt a little abrupt. There was so much happening within the first few pages that it made the pacing off for me. It’s been a long time since I read the previous book, so I wouldn’t have minded a little more build-up instead of jumping right into action sequence after action sequence.

By the middle, the pacing improved and I was really drawn back into the war between the gods and the titan Cronus. There were a lot of twists as Kate and her fellow gods and goddesses attempt to stop Cronus from destroying the world. There is a ton of action in this book and not everyone comes out okay once the battle has ended.

I love the characters in the book. Henry has always been one of my all-time favorites and I continued to like him in The Goddess Inheritance. He has always seemed somewhat cold and distant and I felt like he really started to show how deeply he felt towards Kate and his son. I still liked Kate although she made a few decisions that seemed rash. However, I had to remind myself that she was still very young and her intentions were always to protect her family.

A standout in this book was James. I loved him! He was funny and flirty, providing relief from the tension in the novel. I hope there’s a spinoff series featuring him. I never felt like he was a true contender against Henry, but I have to say that this book had me falling for him.

A few issues I had were that there was a serious lack of romance and love scenes in this book. Henry and Kate were apart for most of the book, but I had hoped by the end they would have time to rekindle their spark. SPOILERS AHEAD Plus, I hated the whole Henry pretending to love Calliope thing. I understood why they thought it was necessary, but after the whole Persephone thing, it seemed a hurtful thing to do to Kate, especially since it’s never revealed if he sleeps with Calliope. The revelation that Walter was Kate’s father was kind of out of left field too since I sensed no spark between him and Kate’s mother. Another thing that bugged me is that Cronus heals Kate after having a baby, so that she looks the same exact way before pregnancy—a weird and sort of sexist addition to the plot. END OF SPOILERS

Overall, the book was a good end to the series and I’m looking forward to the author’s future works.

Thanks to the publisher for a copy of this novel for review!

Goddess Inheritance, written by Aimée Carter, picks up nine months after the last novel. Tricked by Aphrodite (Ava) and held prisoner by Hera (Calliope) and Chronus, she is held prisoner and very pregnant. But her due date is coming closer as the Council of Gods plan their invasion and her rescue. Published by Harlequin publishers on February 26 of last year, this novel gives young adult readers, and fans of the series, a riveting and heart wrenching conclusion to the Goddess Test series by combing paranormal romance and Greek mythology.

Inte direkt en av bok som jag gillar, men den är inte superdålig heller. Skönt att ha den avslutad iallafall!

So Goddess Interrupted had definitely left my heart in a bind at the end, so I was excited to read this book. Although I felt like it was bittersweet, Aimee Carter has creatively incorporated Greek mythology into her books. I find myself not being able to read a Greek myth without thinking about the characters in The Goddess Test series. They have been implanted in my mind and they are now what I picture even when I read other books. I have really enjoyed reading this series and it’s one that I would probably continue to read if there were more added. There are so many areas that could still be explored with Henry and Kate and some of the other characters.

One of my absolute favorite things about this series and I think if I have said before is that these characters stay true to their natures. You are not going to see a bad guy suddenly have a heart of gold. These characters are who they are and their actions fit their nature. I see this in Cronus. He wants Kate to be his queen and companion but don’t let yourself think that his desire for him has made him soft. Cronus is still Cronus and it would only take any kind of betrayal from Kate to make him turn on her. He doesn’t LOVE her he WANTS her and there is a huge difference in that.

Kate is such a different character in this book, motherhood has truly matured her and there is no more of the whining that I started to get annoyed by in book 2. She is strong and clever and is finding herself as Queen of the Underworld and mother to her child. There was so much heartbreak and so many struggles for her in this book.

These books are very character based and so many different ones have important roles. We learn more about Aphrodite and her betrayal. If you haven’t already read the Goddess Legacy it gives us a chance to see her in a little different light. Henry is as always probably the strongest of the Gods, yet he is the least combative. He is the game changer for the battle and we see his importance but also his love for Kate and the baby. There are so many interesting twists and turns that really affect Henry so we get to see the usually emotionally guarded God, react. I’m pretty sure there is nothing that Calliope could ever do that would not make me want to punch her face. I can just not find any empathy for her character. Also if you were afraid that you would miss Persephone don’t fret, she makes a fiery reappearance. We also get to see Henry’s former wife competitors again. I felt like it was a nice touch for the end of the series.

This book wrapped up the series well. As someone who has kids of my own there were definite moments that pulled at my heart strings with the baby. I think this book really made the characters shine and show who they really are. If you are fan of mythology I would definitely recommend this series to you

I was confused a lot, but kept me interested to read all the way through!

Rame sih, tp endingnya gimana gitu -_-

Though I have read the past few books in the series and didn't end up not overly impressed, I started reading The Goddess Inheritance hoping that it would outshine the previous two.Though it still wasn't spectacular, I did like it better than I did the second book in the series.

Like in the last two books in the series I really didn't like the main character, Kate. She often acted on compulsion and did things that didn't seem logical. I really don't think the character seemed to think things through very much, and very little emotion was portrayed in the writing.

Other than Kate many of the other characters I really didn't like. Some were plain rude, others had some of the same issues as Kate did, and many of them were very hard to understand. I really, really haven't like Henry in any of this books, and this time is no exception. I have no idea why anyone would like him, but that is my own personal opinion I suppose. He really doesn't seem like all that interesting or nice of a guy in my point of view. I really don't how Kate began to just accept him as her partner in the first place.

Just like in Goddess Interrupted, I really thing there was very much going on in the story. Pretty much nothing happened other than Kate going to go see someone over and over and over and over and over.... and then a random scene in between all of that.

Finally... there's going to be a spin off. I don't think I'm going to read it. Though I liked the first book in this series a bit, I really don't think there is going to be any way that it will be better after the second and third books in the series.

An amazing end to what I think is a brilliant series. I was hooked from the beginning, and didn't want to stop. This book made me laugh, and it made me cry. If a book can pull out the kind of emotion from me, then it deserves high praise to me.

I loved the first book, I'm a big fan of Greek Mythology so this series was right up my street and although I did really enjoy this book, I think this book fell a bit flat, after a while I got fed up of Kate whining about every little thing that happened. It got to the point where it was becoming annoying to read about her whining about something so trivial when there was bigger things for her to worry about.

I also don't understand how she couldn't work out who her father was, I knew from the moment we found out who her mother was. It wasn't really that hard to work out!

I did really enjoy the series and I did cry at the end of this book, and feel all warm at fuzzy at the little family moments that Henry and Kate had but I wasn't really satisfied with the ending I wanted something more from it.
