This book is a super cute, easy read that will have you giggling.

Rory is a professional swimmer recovering from a knee injury. Summer is new to town, doing odd jobs to make money. This leads to her being dressed as a mermaid and Rory having to come to her rescue!

These two have an instant connection and I really enjoyed this one.

I thoroughly enjoyed the audio for this one. Lucy Rivers & Alex Knox are a great pairing and do a great job with this ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thanks, Erin and @mustloveaudio for the audiobook!
Summer's been on the road for a while. Living in her van, she goes from city to city, doing odd jobs. She's been in Coral Cove for a while and money is tight, so accepts a cockamamie job to cosplay as a mermaid at kid's birthday party. When it goes horribly wrong, she's rescued by a real life Prince Eric - Rory Shields, world champion swimmer and Coral Cove royalty.
Soon their encounter turns into a friendship and when Rory realizes he needs a buffer to keep his family away, he asks Summer to play girlfriend. He'll reciprocate by adding her to his health insurance. Knowing how manipulative his parents can be, she one-ups him and tells his parents they're married!
Now they have to keep up the ruse and they're living together. With Rory's protective instincts kicking in, these two soon find themselves in a very real marriage. But can it last?
The audiobook is narrated dual style by Lucy Rivers and Alex Knox. I loved these two as 'Wildflower' and "Flipper'. Lucy's performances are always spot on and we get a determined but vulnerable Summer. Alex's warm, soothing voice encompasses the green life personified that is Rory. Lucy and Alex together create the warm, lovely (but spicy) vibes of this adorable couple.
I always count on Erin when I want a feel-good story! She never shies away from hard topics but it's all dealt with in such a delicate manner that it never feels heavy.
I loved the team of swimmers, the female beachy version of Banksy, Edgar the pug, their meet cute, the slow burn, the sigh-inducing 'my wife' moments, the small town vibes.
We do have some terrible parents, some team rivalry, a little bit of ex-girlfriend drama but we definitely get sunk deep into this romance. Adorable!
Content notes: MMC is recovering from a sports injury, toxic relationship with parents, gaslighting ex-boyfriend, financial insecurity, chronic illness (FMC has severe asthma)

Summer is guarded, sharp, emotionally locked up, and just the right kind of stubbornโ€”the kind that makes you want to wrap her up and never let go. She left behind wealth, pressure, and a family that never really saw her, all in search of peace, freedom, and who she is without the noise.

Then thereโ€™s Rory Shields: Olympic swimmer and soft-hearted, with major golden retriever energy. Heโ€™s spent his life chasing dreams that werenโ€™t always hisโ€”until one afternoon, he spots a mermaid in distress and everything shifts.

What begins as a no-strings โ€œarrangementโ€ slowly transforms into something honest, deep, and completely breathtaking. A story about trust, healing, and a man who really sees the girl whoโ€™s always kept herself hidden.

๐Ÿ”ฅ The banter? Laugh-out-loud.
๐Ÿ’˜ The romance? Protective, patient, and SO satisfying.
๐ŸŽง And the audiobook narrated by Lucy Rivers & Alex Knox? 10/10. Pure gold.

If a mermaid ocean rescue meet cute does not scream summer energy idk what does. Seriously I was hooked after chapter 2! Rory brings next level Golden Retriever energy and the slow burn is so delicious. This book is binge worthy. I loved this audio they did a great job you could feel the characters through their voices. Highly recommend.

Summer has made Coral Cove home for the last few months. Itโ€™s been the perfect place to work on her art in secret and live in her camper with her pug, Edgar. Unfortunately Edgar had unplanned medical expenses and Summer had to scrap all her pennies together to make it happen. That meant rationing her asthma meds and taking a job to cosplay as a mermaid at a birthday party.

What she didnโ€™t count on was the parents requesting the mermaid swim in the ocean and how strong currents would lead to her almost demise. Luckily the handsome local Olympic relay swimmer Rory was on the beach, and recused her!

Rory was instantly drawn to the mermaid he pulled from the ocean but he didnโ€™t get her name before she ran off. But fate would land her in his path again and this time he wouldnโ€™t let her escape without her name. Summer intrigued him she was a Jane of all trades: skateboarding, dog walking, waitressing and helping the community.

They would quickly become friends and the lines will blur when summer says sheโ€™s his wife to protect him during a dinner with his parents! So now they will need to figure out what life looks like in a fake marriage with feelings rising.

I really enjoyed this one. It was cute and steamy and I was excited for this swimming romance! Couple weak points would be 1. I didnโ€™t buy into the Connor drama - so he took a deal. Who cares? 2. There was no follow up with Roryโ€™s family 3. The set up for the fake marriage made some sense but then was pretty abandoned and there was no forced โ€œhaving to pretendโ€ moments so that trope ended up feeling a bit weak. But really, I loved Rory and their playful relationship. It worked for me! Ready for the next!

This will be my recommendation forevermore when someone asks for a unique sports romance! Swimming! I loved it! From the rigorous training to the mental toll to body types to the teammate relationshipsโ€ฆall of the authenticity portraying this sport was outstanding. And the romance aspect was just as good, engrossing and a perfect complement to the sporty aspect. Incognito artist with a black cat personality, Summer, travels to a small Carolina town where she is trying to find herself. Rory, a professional swimmer on the road the Olympics after an injury, knows she is for him. They stumble into a marriage of convenience which turns into more, after relentless patience and support on his part and learning to open up and trust on her part. Their story heartwarming, spicy and intimate, funny, and justโ€ฆso good.
