"Less Creature from the Black Lagoon and more Shape of Water" - a direct quote from the book. Definitely, the way to keep the Halloween spirit alive even amongst the incoming Christmas spirit.
Absolutely what I wished Shape of Water had more of. I enjoyed the setting - I don't know if it's slasher movie-conditioned, but there is something about summer camps outside of the busy season that unnerves me. Even if I just read about it. The way the creature communicates is just as weird and unnerving as the setting, and yet, the effort behind the creepy communication makes it very sweet. Also, I always appreciate an innovative use of elemental powers.
