I didn’t know how I would tolerate her narrating the book but I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. I don’t keep up with actor news so I got to listen to this from a totally unbiased perspective.

I’ve casually liked this actress; meaning I’ve liked her in all the movies I’ve seen her in.

I found myself skipping through some of chapters (mostly the childhood recap ones) and while at first I appreciated her sharing her experiences in Hollywood (and life) as a size 16 by the third or fourth chapter about her weight and weight loss (or love of sweets) I was ready for a new topic.

For memoirs I prefer either “here’s what happened to me, here’s what I did, here’s what I learned” format or very funny or engaging stories. The writing missed the mark here; I blame her ghost writer not her. Perhaps I just expected more from a comedian.

I have read some reviews that said this was boring but, honestly, I found it refreshing. There were definitely points that were not terribly exciting but that seems to be because Rebel Wilson has led a life of being a fairly good person who lives her values. The fact that there are no ugly skeletons to reveal is a testament to that. I found the SBC chapter to be justifying (I've never liked him but couldn't articulate any specific reason why) and the stories about wanting and finding love felt really genuine. I wish her continued success and happiness.
