The only good parts were when Harley did something crazy. That's it. I'm just gonna read the original version of this comic.

I liked the dynamic of all these characters together. Black Manta is surprisingly willing to lead this group of misfits. And whose idea was it to hire Deathstoke? The art is a bit inconsistent and gets progressively less awesome. Nice book but didn't blow me away.

3.5 stars. (Full review to come after publication, as per publisher's request)

I thoroughly enjoyed this!! Probably the best comic I've read to date. Really a lot of fun, though the art left a lot to be desired. Victor Sage decides to add Joker's Daughter and Deathstroke to the Suicide Squad, in what was generally considered to be a dumb decision. This ends up causing a whole slew of problems, as they don't exactly along well with the original members of the Squad. I was really a fan of this one, especially the first half, as I (incongruously) loved the team and their interactions. I actually thought the characterizations of the team were backward though, as they seemed not as far along in development and growth as a team in the second part.

I will definitely be checking out the following issues.

You know what? I wanted to stop. I wanted to never pick up another Suicide Squad comic ever again. But then I did and this NEW Suice Squad is actually better than the other run I've read. At least the art has improved of about 200% (they also completely changed Deadshots looks) and although events are still pretty chaotic, I kind of liked this one.

Harley was the centre for me, again, and she looks awesome in this. Many other stuff didn't really make sense but this time around, I wasn't that much bothered because the squad itself is still in disarray, trying to find it's place and rhythm (making it kind of authentic). I guess it really all depends on the writer/artist!

I mean, the plot isn't overly original (Russia being the first enemy and naming their robots "Rocket Reds" of all things, Chine being next) but since there is a new facility, a new political system in the US (and the world), even Amanda Waller didn't land on her feet as she usually did. I liked that. So we have infighting between Harley and the so-called Joker's Daughter (new member) as well as between Amanda and her new boss. One pissing contest after another. Not bad, overall.

Pure Insanity follows the ever changing Suicide Squad on two missions in different countries, while checking back with the ever strong independent women, Amanda Waller - Leader of the Squad.

This issue contains some very beautiful art work, some funny dialogue and high-paced action scenes.

While the story is a little lackluster, the characters are always entertaining, so in short this was a fun time with the Squad.

Action-Packed & Quick

I received a free copy from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I requested this one mainly because I am not familiar with the Suicide Squad but wanted to read about them before they get a movie. I mainly really enjoyed this, especially the characters were great because they were not the average heroes. Sometimes, though I felt like the plot was a bit all over the place and hard to follow, which is why I had to deduct some stars.

is great and there are some interesting moments that explore Amanda Waller’s character, but outside of those two things I was just underwhelmed and actually confused by New Suicide Squad Pure Insanity.

The main issue with New Suicide Squad is that it s just disjointed. We start off with one group of characters and then it changes slightly by the third issue. In addition to that many of the characters are just there. For instance the Joker’s Daughter isn’t even a developed character in this volume, she is just there to antagonize Harley but does little more than act absurd and crazy. Now, I know that the character is insane, but she could at least be given a story line that doesn’t use her as a talking prop. There is also a lot going on this this volume. At one point we’re in Russia, then we’re checking in on Amanda, stuff blows up, are we still in Russia? not sure, but let’s check back in on Amanda and the bureaucratic B.S. she is having to deal with, oh wait now we’re not in Russian anymore. That is basically how I felt ready New Suicide Squad. I couldn’t get a grasp on the plot or the characters despite an ample amount of dialogue.

Disclosure: We received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for our honest review.
