This wasn't the first time I'd read The Wizard of Oz, but certainly the first time in a while, and definitely the first time in Spanish! I loved it -- getting to meet the characters again in a different language was delightful, and I was reminded of so much that I'd forgotten: the fact that there are in fact TWO good witches, and Glinda is only one of them; the fact that the Tin Woodsman can be salty AF; and the fact that the whole story can be read as a cautionary tale about trusting people (especially MEN) who accumulate vast amounts of power for no reason beyond personal whim (Oz just dropped into this beautiful land and then took power over a substantial part of it "so as to not be bored"?!?! Come. On.).
