This book was a great way to explore an immigrant's journey to becoming an American. I loved all the ups and down throughout the book. Cici had to work hard to figure out what she wanted for herself. I would recommend this book to anyone who is learning self love.

I loved watching CiCi adjust to life in America through a cooking contest. Seeing her grow, learning to trust and make friends, and discover how to honor her Taiwanese heritage, was heartwarming.

Solid book. The plot was entertaining, the characters were sweet, and the art was pretty. This is also one of the first times I've seen a character experience a microagression from someone who isn't just an antagonist.

I loved this book! This is a graphic novel about a 12 year old Taiwanese girl, Cici, who moves to Seattle. She misses her grandmother and enters a cooking contest to earn money for her to fly to Seattle for a birthday celebration. The story is about friendship, adjusting to a new culture, trying to understand herself/family. My daughter will enjoy reading this one.

This was such a fun read I did for school. It will definitely have to be one I get for on my shelves. All the recipes looked so yummy with the illustrations. The story and the plot were really nicely rounded too, i really enjoyed this read. The characters were really relatable too which is so nice to have. The art was just spot on!
