It's a really pretty book. The tale is about everything and nothing as with any good myth or allegory.

Interesting art, interesting world, but a little confusing for me to understand. I felt a little like I was thrown into the middle of a story and had to piece together the beginning as I went along. Maybe I just like my books spoonfed to me?
I can see a Dapper Man being a great cosplay outfit.

Lazy, stultifying and stupid, though it does boast exceptional art.

The art in this is absolutely wonderful. I was pleased to see an introduction by Tim Gunn, as the dapper men bear a slight resemblance to him (if their hair was a little shorter and whiter..) The story is simple and fantastical, but something about it didn't quite grab me.

In a land stuck between the ticks of the clock, time stands still. Machines live on the surface and children work and play under the ground in a system that has no beginning and no end. Not until 314 Dapper Men float from the sky to set the world back amongst time.

Really lovely art and a whimsical story make this seem a modern clockwork fairy tale, with style.

4.5 for the art.
3 - ish for the story, which was interesting and imaginative, but confusing at times.

Fascinating fairy-tale-ish story about a world in which time has stopped. The artwork is wonderful, a combination of colored ink drawings with decoupage and painted wood. The writing is fun but a little confusing.

This is a stunning, breath-takingly beautiful book! Ayden, a boy, and Zoe, a robot, are friends trying to fix things in a land where time has stopped. Memories have faded. There is no yesterday, no tomorrow, only now. 314 dapper men return and time restarts. It's Zen, fairy tale, science fiction, and more all wrapped up in the same story. I love that Pop Candy calls it a "steampunk fairy tale!"

The art enhances the story in a way I've never seen. I could flip through the pages over and over. I want them to hang on my walls. It's just gorgeous. She uses traditional inking and coloring techniqes, painting, decoupage, and digital media to make the art. Read the note in the back about how she created the pages!

I hope you get a chance to read it, and hope the vibrant ecstasy of this graphic novel grabs your soul and makes you sigh with the wonder, beauty, and a little sadness of it all.

It was fine? I think I must have found out about this through FBCD at some point but after reading it I'm not really sure why it would have caught my attention.
