This is the most real PTSD I've ever read and I'm glad it exists, in this world and in Binti's.

This short story is a follow-up to the first installment in the Binti series. Binti is now attempting to settle in at the University following the horrific events that occurred upon her arrival while also dealing with feelings of isolation in her new surroundings and continuing to try to relate to Okwu, to whom she is now unfortunately tied, and who is at the center of the initial tragedy at the university.
She has made a new group of friends, each a different species from her. They try to help her deal with everything but are unable to truly understand. I enjoyed the way in which the author described her friends. It was very easy to visualize them and each of their unique physical characteristics.
This story doesn't move at the pace of the first book, it does a really good job of capturing the pain and frustration that Binti is enduring and her attempts to come to grips with her situation. Where this story lacks is that it doesn't advance the story forward very much. But I am still looking forward to continuing on with the series.
