That was very interesting. I've read A LOT about the book from a lot of my favorite writers. I started reading it and then I got bored at the beginning. I even thought of not finishing it. But I decided to give it a second chance and I was literally blown away. It's soooooo goooood and so much fun. It just need you to keep on reading it till the end.
I really loved it and enjoyed every second of the story . And the Count what a man and what a mindset. The way he planned and dragged them all down to hell was just so unreal.
His revenge OH MY I still can't get over the brutal and extremely smart ways that he took his revenge with. This is just some next next level.
I don't even know how can a writer get this wicked mindset in his way of taking revenge of his enemies.
As always Mr.Dumas crushed it again.

5/5 stars ⭐️ one of the most beautiful pieces of literature i have read in a while. the characters were so well—formed and were so distinct and not at all overwhelming. one of my favourite lines of all time have been from this book. rarely do i ever give a book five stars but reading this was such an enjoyable experience. the plot was neither dragged or cut too short. the plot and its characters and the aesthetics were so rich — dumas’s writing is so vivid you can see the characters in your head. this book is definitely worth a read. its so pure and so beautiful and there is so many lines i would read again. definitely worthwhile and a very pure and heartbreaking piece of literature

I really enjoyed this book! It was scattered with quotes and passages that I wanted to read again and again. The relationships between characters, especially within families, was touching and occasionally heartbreaking and in places I wish these could have been explored further. There is family drama, revenge, details of society all wrapped up in delightful writing that made me want to finish this book even when the big book fatigue was really getting me down.

The plot does feel a little drawn out and I found myself wanting to skip chunks or having to use spark notes as a forgotten character made a reappearance and I could not remember anything about them. I had a solid 2 month break at around 400 pages but I am so glad I picked it back up and managed to finish it.

Apart from the size I think this is one of the most accessible classics I have read, the writing structure flowed easily and I didn’t feel like I was wading through complicated grammar and vocabulary, having to decode every sentence to work out what it was trying to say. I would really recommend this to anyone and don’t let the 1200 pages scare you.

Eugenie is just an absolute weapon -I loved her, I want to be her.

This book is the equivalent of a massive hedge maze where all of the paths lead to the center, but until every path is explored entirely, you cannot get back out. It’s beautifully crafted and traps the reader from the beginning and refuses to let you loose until all is done. There were so many moments when I questioned who was doing what and had to track the names of the multitude of characters and their titles because they change often. Thankfully, Dumas is quite patient with his reader and guides you back to the intended path with gentle reminders throughout.

The perfect revenge story, just maybe 150 pages too long

The only book I was forced to read for school and actually enjoyed.
