adventurous funny inspiring fast-paced

Simply wonderful in the truest sense of the word. Dahl does not just write for children, he writes with the imagination that a child has. That is one of the hardest things to capture as an adult. Bravo.

I can't believe I never realized how creepy this book is when I was younger.

Read as part of son’s bedtime routine.

Yes I watched the film (original) before reading. My son really liked this. There were some rather twisted elements that push the age rating up.

Lots of questions, giggles along the way.

Read to my son at bedtime. We both laughed so much when Wonka says "My dear old fish. Go and boil your head."

On this reading I got the impression that the essence of the character has not yet been captured fully in the films, either by Wilder or Depp. Not least because he's supposed to have a beard! Which is strange because of Roald Dahl's dislike of beards and his evident use of Wonka as a mouthpiece for some of his own views.

I remember when they sent us or at school, I had a 1989 edition at home, the date of my birth. I loved, I read a lot of times, I dreamed that I knew Willy Wonka and worked in his factory. I love Charlie, and his four elderly grandparents, lol, really love it

I had fun again reading this to my daughter. She is really into Roald Dahl right now.

Re-read this on a gloomy monsoon day cuddled up in my blanket. Bliss.
