I loved the story as a whole because i loved the movie. But if i was someone who had never seen the movie and only read the book I don’t think i would have liked it nearly as much. The writing felt like a child rewrote the script in simpler words while also managing to make certain characters unlikeable (even more than they were in the movies). I gave it the rating i did simply for the sake of the plot as a whole, not for the writing of the book itself.

Todd Anderson and his friends at Welton Academy can hardly believe how different life is since their new English teacher, the flamboyant John Keating, has challenged them to ‘make your life extraordinary!’
Inspired by Keating, the boys resurrect the ‘Dead Poets Society’, a secret club where free from the constraints and expectations of school and parents, they let their passion run wild.
But the Dead Poets Society soon realize that their newfound freedom can lead to tragic consequences. Can the club and the individuality It inspires survive the pressure from authorities determined to destroy their dreams?

My Rating - 3.5/5 stars
This book is one of the rare cases in which the novel was based on the movie.
Both the book and movie ‘Dead Poets Society’ were published and produced in 1989.
I loved this movie so much and enjoyed the book! I really wish the book was longer though. It was only 176 pages, and I felt like it could’ve been extended and made much better if it was longer and had some events that weren’t in the movie.
Regardless of this, I highly enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who liked the movie or just wants a quick read.

i don’t really understand why this was written because it honestly just sucked. i liked a few additions to the story since i like to know more about these characters but i found that most of the changes and additions took me away from the story.

also it just lacked any real depth most of the time and if i didn’t know the movie beforehand then i don’t think the book would be very interesting.

love the movie! had no idea there was a book, or that the book was inspired by the movie, until a random bookstore trip. the writing was pretty simple and felt a little lacking. but overall not a bad lil read if you're looking for something easy with emotional depth.
