Took me a while to get into it but in the end this was a lot of fun! I liked the modern take on fantasy and the action scenes were a blast. Didn’t love the way lore was explained but overall glad I read this and can’t wait for the next.
i’m ngl this book hit allllllllllll the spots!!! It had such a developed world building and magic system that made sense and all the slow building romantic tension yum yum yum!!! all of the characters were developed and the plot was interesting i deffo didn’t think it was going to be a book that was this good haha

This book surprised me in so many ways. From the cover and the title you would assume it was just another typical supernatural romance but it is a lot more than it. I honestly would even go as far as to say it was 90% an action superhero novel than it was a romance. I felt the book was really well written it was full of action and intrigue that kept me hooked on every page. I loved Nevada she was a strong female lead who wasn’t embarrassed of her weaknesses her emotions. She could be kick ass but also cry and shout for help. She felt like a normal human being instead of some female leads try to push the narrative that bad ass means you can’t cry or show weakness. Nevada was awesome.
Also with some supernatural books and even films some magic and power systems feel lousy and not fleshed out enough. I liked that it was slightly complex and actually interesting. How there are primes and how people have different powers than others through their relatives.
The only thing for me was that I really loved the fact that Mad Rogan was the love interest at first I thought it was going to be Adam. Rogan was really hot at first he was the typical cold villain bad guy but I felt towards the end he was a bit creepy. Like he kept saying how ‘were going to have sex now yes?’ And he kept asking her and asking her. ‘Well your attracted to me, have sex with me your going to be crawling back to my bed anyway’ like ew no Rogan just because your the bad guy doesn’t mean you should act like a frat boy. It’s kind of like a puppy humping your leg it’s endearing and funny for the first couple of seconds and then it just gets a bit tedious and actually pretty gross.
It’s a shame he was written that way in the end because I just kept rolling my eyes.I didn’t really have any emotional feeling towards him and especially their relationship. Also before they started working together he was this scary guy and when he kidnaps her you do feel Nevada’s sense of fear because he is this terrifying man. In reality he really is just some guy with a lot of money and sense of entitlement.I loved the dynamic with Nevada and her family especially her grandmother she was probably the best character in the book. It’s a shame because I probably won’t read it because Mad Rogan is Mad Creepy.

The author's world building is FAN-TASTIC. Both books even If I wasent overly convinced by ' Clean Sweep' were outstanding. The idea of houses, magic and powers were so good.

Urban fantasy isn’t something I read often, so this was a fun change of pace. The plot moves along quickly (at least with my sped up audio version 😅), and I didn’t want to put it down. This is a slow burn, lust-mance with a very morally questionable man (I don’t think calling him “gray” works when he threatens to kill your loving and protective mother in front of you—that seems at bit beyond gray to me).
Anyways, it’s creative and fun. Some things don’t quite make sense as far as powers go, but it’s a good time anyway. My biggest complaint, though, is the epilogue. It just felt awful and out of place; I don’t know if I even want to continue with the series because of it.
