Classic 2000’s romance. Back when psychotic heroes were a little silly too; I miss when they laughed and smiled along with all the stoic looks and hard eyes. The magic system is really fun, lots of interesting side characters, and the setup for later stories is great.

i started reading this book because the hook is that MAD ROGAN captures the girl and ugggh IT'S SO GOOD! UNREASONABLE GOOD! A MAN IS REFERRED TO AS MAD ROGAN FOR LIKE 250 PAGES AND I WAS STILL EMOTIONALLY INVESTED!!!!!!! also the heroine is a delight, emotionally solid and uncompromising and not at all an Action Girl, also ~hidden powers~, also PET SOCIOPATHS, this is my 2nd favorite urban fantasy series after Toby Daye, READ IT + CRY THAT THERE'S ONLY ONE BOOK AND IT WAS PUBLISHED 5 MINUTES AGO

This is exactly how I like my urban fantasy!  No tell, pure show, intriguing characters, action.
