Somehow I've now read this 3 times, but this revisit was in preparation for Percival Everett's latest release James. Without a past review, it's difficult to pin down and compare my previous feelings, but I definitely think I enjoyed this more than I did the two other times I picked it up. Reading Twain's collected short stories has definitely given me a more thorough appreciation for his voice.
With a modern lens, obviously this does stand on rather shaky moral and racial ground, so I am excited to dive into James and see how Everett approaches those conversations.
I'm not sure why 2017 me didn't rate this, but as I'm having a difficult time settling on one in the present, I think I'll leave it unrated as I did before.
At any rate (!), with three reads now under my belt, I don't really see the need to come back to this one, well, ever.

Of course, I did not enjoy the language, the slurs. It was written a long time ago so it was no surprise.
For most of the book, I really did not like Huckleberry Finn. It was not until close to the ending, I started to enjoy him. I hate Tom Sawyer, though. He is just awful and annoying.
I was never bored. Something was happening the whole time. There was not a single moment without some sort of event.
I don't really know how to review this. It was fine, I enjoyed parts of it, but it is definitely not one of my favorite books.
