Amy Plum’s Revenants series is an interesting take on what happens after death. In this case, some people are reborn as revenants of good or bad intent. I have heard the revenants in this series called many things, amongst which zombies and ghosts rank highest. While I may still not completely understand their true nature, they have made for a good story, nonetheless. The past 3 years has shown an overall story with its ups and downs, all of which made me think as I pondered the decisions made by each character. I think it’s all a part of the mysterious world of the revenants.
Throughout the three books that make up the Revenants series, Kate makes many transitions. From heart-broken, lost girl to determined, star-crossed lover, Kate explores all realms of possibility when it comes to her paramour, Vincent. I’ll admit that there are some parallels that I just couldn’t bring myself to think about too much, but there is a rich mythology to be found within the story that you will find nowhere else. It is Kate’s exploration of this mythology that proves to be the most enduring aspect of her transition into who she has become in the final book, If I Should Die. As for Vincent, if I had to make a snap observation, it would be that he tends to lay it on kind of thick when it comes to the romance aspect of the book. I don’t think I could have stood it if he had been domineering, though. As it is, he comes across as extremely smitten.
The plot is really what did it for me with If I Should Die. Presented with a seemingly impossible challenge, Kate and company set out to get Vincent out of the biggest pickle any of them have been in, so far. That coupled with the introduction of new characters, the unveiling of secrets and treachery, and a culminating battle fraught with danger and heartbreak, If I Should Die went out as well as Die for Me came in. This is what I enjoyed the most in that there were so many aspects to discover and consider. There are also some great surprises, which didn’t fail to please.
While If I Should Die didn’t have as much of the spark of Die for Me, it was a great way to wrap up the series thanks to its unique mythology and the barriers the characters must overcome. The characters are each enjoyable in their own ways, but the plot is definitely the star of If I Should Die. If you enjoy an author skilled in creating unique beings and building a world around them, Amy Plum just may prove to be such an author for you to give a chance to. I can truly say that it is one of the things I appreciate most about this series.

I LOVED IT!!! That's basically all I can think right now. That, and I can't believe this series is over. I am going to miss it so much.

I'm going to start this review by saying that I am so incredibly sad that this series has ended. When I first read Die for Me I fell in love with Amy Plum's Revenants and the Paris city depicted in the books. It made me want to jump on the next plane to France even though I know basically no French, am a broke teenager with a book buying addiction, and would never be allowed to travel overseas without parental supervision.
After the ending of Until I Die I was basically holding my breath for the last book in the trilogy. I wasn't sure how on earth Amy Plum was going to solve everything that needed to be solved in the final book and my expectations were extremely high. If I Should Die definitely didn't disappoint! It was the perfect end to the series!
All of my favorite characters were back and better than ever! As a result of the ending of Until I Die Kate is on her own and has to learn how to not only defend herself but also how to fight back as she fights desperately to get Vincent back. I loved that this book was still focused on their romance but Kate proved that she wasn't just a damsel in distress. She can take care of herself. Her sister Georgia also really stepped up to the plate in this book and she provided some comedic relief while helping her sister big time.
There was also a lot of closure for all of the characters in this book. Amy Plum did a really excellent job of giving all of the characters an ending that answered most of the questions that I had. Not all of the endings were happy, but they were satisfying all the same.
This book was also full of so many twists and turns that I couldn't keep up with it. The plot was fast paced and action packed, leaving me surprised multiple times. Just when I thought the rest of the focus of the book was going to be on one thing, BAM! There would be a twist that sent the plot in a complete different direction. It made the book interesting and I just wanted to keep reading until I was done.
There were tears, there were laughs, and I was left feeling really satisfied with the ending to one of my favorite series. If I wasn't a big Amy Plum fan before, I am now! I think this was the best book in the series and I'll definitely be reading any future Amy Plum Projects!

Great finale! I was right about a lot of thing and I am completely satisfied with everything that happened!^^

Finally!!! I thought I would never finish this book. . . it took me FOREVER. Like, it wasn't that awful but it was slow and the main character wasn't fiery enough or rebellious enough for me- she was pretty boring.
Really liked to read some fantasy novel that is about a myth I haven't heard of. Truth be told we all start getting tired of the same myths. Anyway I still think the story line is a bit Twilightey, but I did enjoy it.
Hmmm... If I Should Die is the last book of the trilogy Revenants by Amy Plum. Story was about revenants. Revenants are prettified zombies. Er... The summary is like this, they die to help/save others and then resurrect after a couple of days as long as their bodies are not burned. And of course, there's the Numas. They are the complete opposite of Revenants or the Bardias, they kill people. They murder them in cold blood.
So then the story in this third book, continued without much of a preamble from the ending of second book. I think it was just days after Vincent was taken by Violet. The Bardias and Numas believed that Vincent is the Champion. The one who'll save them from Numas.
And Kate, I honestly didn't expect anything from her. I don't expect that she'll be able to save Vincent which leads to me asking for a spoiler about whether Vincent will be back for good in the middle of the book.
The story is good. But a bit boring at some parts. If I will be asked if I enjoyed reading it the answer would be so-so? lol. I mean I still liked it but I do wished that some parts are not that long. Ending's pretty good. Didn't expect some of the twists. Kate's character evolved, I believe. But as usual, the guy is like "Don't do this or that. I don't want you getting hurt." The usual drama of guys who are a bit overprotective. In Vincent's case, I quite understand why he felt that way.
Overall, yeah, story's great. But I feel there's something that is lacking. So 3 stars only. And yes, I'm satisfied with the ending.
In my opinion, this book was the best of the trilogy, although I really enjoyed all three and the story as a whole. Some things I predicted happened and others were still a surprise, which a balance between those is a good way to go in my opinion, and I think that balance was found in this book.
I truly loved this trilogy, it is one of my favorites!!! Vincent and Kate were such wonderful characters, and being set in Paris made it perfect for me!!! I was definitely satisfied with the ending, I wasn't sure how she was going to pull it off, but she did so beautifully!!!! I did figure out the big plot twist ahead of time, but it still didn't ruin it for me, and I loved reading it anyway. I am sad to see Kate and Vincent go, I will miss them!!!!! Thanks Amy for such a wonderful and different trilogy!!!! Highly recommended series!
Daaaaang, what an ending. I seriously, like, never know what’s going to happen with this crew! Some of the things that happened, I felt were really predictable, almost to the point of absurdity. I mean, maybe it’s just me, but when I’m agreeing with the villain because THEY saw it coming as much as I did? Guys, come on. And there was one little… romantic pairing that I just didn’t really believe. But whatever, I’m nitpicking, I guess. The story was a wild and interesting ride, with a pretty satisfying ending, for the most part. Definitely a pleasure to listen to on audio.
