4.05 AVERAGE

This book was a hard one to rate. There are parts I'd give a 5 and parts I'd give a 2. The story is great and thrilling at points, but the main problem is that Amy Plum doesn't like to flesh things out. There are a lot of points at which something that should be a major moment is brushed over quickly and it felt like a major disappointment. Surprisingly, it's usually the gooey, heartfelt moments than the other books portray so spectacularly that are skimped out in this one.

The characters' consistency threw me off in this book. Mamie and Papy, for example, were supposed to come off as conflicted, but came off as really lousy family members instead. Kate is allowing herself to connect back to the person she was before Paris and talks about being healed, but we never see that new perspective in action. Charlotte decides to "get over" her problems and just DOES, suddenly becoming a badass. There's a new character, Louis, who has a really unique role that is NEVER fully explained or resolved.

And the Jules thing? Let me say that I'm glad it's NOT a love triangle situation, but I really don't think there's grounds for his big revelation because he and Kate barely develop as friends. Also, leaving his friends on the brink of war, then showing up in the middle of the war, then IMMEDIATELY leaving without saying a word to anyone because you're too caught up in your own emotions is just plain stupid. Poor character development there.

One character related upside: Charles' return with his crunchy punk clan from Berlin. Those characters totally made me smile. Such a plus!

On the whole, the plot is predictable. What's going to happen to Vincent is not a hard guess. It's very easy to guess who The Champion is. We know things are going to come to a head against the numa. In between moments, like discovering more about the revenant history and the guessieurs were the more interesting moments.

I wish more time had been spent discussing the post-battle fate of the kindred, but the book was good overall.

So at the end of the last book I was sad. I had never loved this series, and Vincent dying didn't absolutely kill me. But I felt totally bad for Kate. And because I knew her boyfriend had just died, I was worried she would become Bella in the second Twilight. Mopy, lifeless, and an utterly boring narrator. I want to go give her a high five for allowing herself one day of grief. ONLY ONE DAY! After her one day she actually gets up and does something. She goes headfirst into looking for a cure for Vincent. BECAUSE SHE KNOWS THAT THINGS DON'T HAPPEN IF YOU DON'T TRY! A lesson many many female characters need to learn when their love dies. *cough cough* Bella *cough cough*

As for the plot, we all saw it coming. It had been obvious since the first book that Kate
was indeed the Champion, and was totally a Revenant. I mean seriously, the prophecy was way too easy for them to decipher. How the hell did they miss it?!
Other than that, there was no major plot twists, but it was interesting enough for me to keep reading. The ending was super sweet, but I seriously wish she had given us more. Like seriously, the last sentence does not sum up the book at all! It's super cheesy, like she actually didn't put any thought into it at all.

I think this book delivers what it promises without the cherries on top. The author could have been deeper and less direct, but all in all, a pretty good way to end a pretty good series.

Best book of this trilogy! I love it when the last book in a series is the best! Goes out with a BANG! I was so invested in everything and was nervous through the whole book because I just cared so much for every character!

Though I would've loved an epiloge! How was Georgias and Arthurs relationship going to work out? What happened to Louis? Those things would have been wonderful to get an answer to!

Still, the book is worth a 5/5 starts! Loved it greatly!

let me tell you it sucks when the point where you really, really start feeling for the characters and get really, really attached to them is in the last book of a series. i mean i liked them before, i really did, i liked the whole paris clan but boy, did i only realize how much i love them when the end was nearing.
i loved every single one of them expect violett but thats self-explaining and i loved all of their stories and was rooting for all of them. i was rooting for charlotte and ambrose (thb they were the ones i was rooting for the most. i wish they would have had more scenes together) and georgia and arthur and i was happy that charles finally learned to accept his life and i admit it i cried when jean(idk how to spell his second name) died and when gaspard cried for him, my heart broke. my heart also broke when jules left for new york but i knew that that was coming. and vincent, good god, why do i always fall in love with book characters.

alot of things happened in this book but i admit it, i saw the big plot twist at the end coming almost right from the start when bran looked at kate differently. however i still really enjoyed the story because it is really uniquie and refreshing.i kinda fell in love with the world of the revenants and i wish there would be more of kate & vincents story.

the only thing that still really annoyed me, as it has in the two books before, was the way kate sometimes spoke and thought. she acted and spoke like she was as old as vincent whICH SHE IS NOT. but im pretty sure that alot of that style of speaking had to do with the german translation so i dont really see it as that big of a negative point.

because of all of the above mentioned my actual rating is 4.5 stars because i really fell in love with the revenant world and i enjoyed this book the most out of all three of them which is kinda suprising considering that it is the last book and most of the time the last books are the worst.

This book was an incredible ending to this awesome series! Everything turned out the way I wanted it to! 5/5 stars from me!

I am proud to say I guessed all the main plot points in this novel in the second book in the trilogy! But that didn’t stop me from enjoying watching it all pan out! The last 100 pages were so action-packed and suspenseful, so awesome! I have to admit there was a lot of information given during the first half of this book which I found hard to remember and understand at times but overall I thought the plot was very well developed and enjoyable!

As for the characters I just loved them all even more in this book! Katy was even more bad-ass then the last and I admired her strength and devotion! Vincent as usual was just perfect, love him so much! Ambrose, Charlotte and Jules are some of my favourite secondary characters ever! Though I am still upset over that one sided love triangle thing that went on with Katy, Jules and Vincent, I found it completely irrevalent!

Overall this series was amazing all the way through but I think this book has been my favourite so far! Cannot wait to read more of Amy Plum’s work!

This is the type of end a reader wished for, but wouldn't dare hoping for! Kate realizes that she controls the war much more than she thought. Not because she would do anything, and I mean ANYTHING, or because Vincent also does anything for her. No, it's because of her strength, willpower and love to everyone.

Easily my favorite book in the series. Some of it broke my heart, but it was a good ending. I was actually shouting at a few scenes! I loved it <3
