Eat the rich.
I thought I’d branch out from my usual books, never having read a Steel book before, but remember my mom getting sucked into them as a kid. The entire book was just the characters saying how “normal” the celebrity is, constant comparisons of siblings to the point where the oldest is traumatized by it, and brushing over a horrendous tragedy to pressure her daughters into a marriages and relationships instead of minding her own business.
And, the writing through the book is repetitive. Like a HS student trying to fill a required word count.

Way too formulaic. Predictable and flat. First half of the book was better than the second half.

I have been reading Danielle Steel’s novels since I was twelve years old (I had read all the books in the children’s room, so I headed to the adult section). I find her stories easy to read and a nice break from reality. In Never Too Late, I liked the characters, but there were too many of them. The secondary characters lacked development. The details about the characters were repetitive (did the author think we would forget a detail since she mentioned it in the last chapter). The author has a tragic event occur that will bring up terrible memories for many people. I thought it was too deep and tragic for this story. The incident is over quickly and wrapped up neatly. The whole thing left me feeling uneasy and distressed. The author could have found another way for the main characters to meet and bond. There was something that occurred between two secondary characters that is reminiscent of another book that I have read by this author. The story jumps around between the characters too much. I feel the author tried to put too much into one short book. I liked that we get to see older protagonists getting another chance at love. While I was not a fan of Never Too Late, it will not keep me from reading the next Danielle Steel novel (I have read all her books, so I am not about to stop now).
This was my first ever Danielle Steel book and I can’t believe it took me so long to read one of hers! It was so great. Now I know why my grandma loves her so much. It was a perfect, cozy, simple romance. Kezia finds love after love when her husband passes away in a most unlikely situation. A bond forged through a traumatic experience with hot movie star, Sam. We also get to see how her adult daughters, Felicity and Kate find love. I really liked the viewpoint of a mothers love for her grown children. Overall, 4/5 ⭐️
Thank you Random House Publishing Group-Ballantine, Delacorte Press, Netgalley, and Danielle Steel for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.
