Reading whatever the fuck A fabric of our souls was, lowered my expectation. And I was expecting fabric of our smut energy the entire time in this book. I wasn't ready for what this book was offering. Ballad was obviously kind of cringe and cheesy (not as much as fabric). Its also literally like a 1 on spicy, a negative 4 on that one ladies scaling (the author is still very descriptive). BUT EVERYTHING SURROUNDING THE ROMANCE? I LIKED A DECENT AMOUNT. Subplots, character backstories. JERICHO. If the romance wasn't in the book I feel like it could still work. They could have literally ended up besties for all i care tbh, just tell me why they're broken. NOW. and I was told, and maybe some tears started running down my face a little. A total of like 3 times. Like somethings broke my heart, while others warmed. Sometimes i was hit with both of those feelings at the same time. Its an easy read. Would recommend if you need something to read rn. Jericho still the MF GOAT in the afterlife.
EDIT: I had to lower the rating cus the sad was winning me over last night but today im a new man. The sad isn’t in control. The sadness in the book was good and idk how to make it a 3.5.

Spoiler
when Lan was waiting for Liam and Wynn at the grave, and they didn't show shattered my heart. I wasn't ready for that. I know how much they meant to him and how they basically saved him as a person. So for him to breakdown cus they didn't i just ugh want to cry. Then finding out about his and Ophelia's backstories, they're LORE, if you would. Omg. Especially because we learn about some stuff said to them here and there throughout the book. So to see Ophelia's final moments and Lan finally leaving was just. Shattering. They were just babies. They didn't deserve all that. Lanston also having a whole façade throughout Fabric, and it disappearing in the afterlife omg. And then him seeing his father at the grave. Crying. Oh fuck my heart. With Lanston letting all his anger out while his dad let out all his regrets was devastating. His dad then leaving art supplies for Lanston LITERALLY SHOOK ME TO MY CORE. What the fuck. Just that whole scene. Ophelia, also getting figuring herself out too. I love that Lanstons role was kind of like a little angel on her shoulder, her positive subconscious voice. Man why did the author have to write some good broken backstories that are resolved satisfyingly.
