A really gorgeous story for older children, based on Welsh mythology. Vivi, an autistic girl, finds Excalibur in a lake on the day her family are due to move from North Wales to London. The sword leads her to a group of new friends (Gelert the ghost dog is my particular fave) and a quest to help save the world. Huxley-Jones' writing is beautiful, particularly their representation of how it feels to be autistic or disabled or non-binary as a young person. I also absolutely love how they have played with Welsh myth to create something new and fresh. I wish I'd read been able to read a book like this when I was 11 but I'm just as glad to be able to read it now!

This was a delight of a read. A true joy from start to finish. With a cracking adventure, threads of Welsh mythology, a lovable cast of characters - all of whom are beautifully developed - and a heartfelt focus on friendship and belonging, this is a gorgeously inclusive, exciting and warmhearted read and a story I can’t wait to dive back into with its sequel.

ADORED this, it is a triumph of middle grade fantasy. An edge-of-your-seat adventure underpinned by rich mythology and a brave heroine that will capture your heart. Hux has spun a classic tale for the ages.

P.S. Might start my own Stevie fan-club, I love her!!
