Cute story with an interesting magic system. It was completely gripping, but it was fun. Younger readers would love the story. I hope to read it again in the final print to see the artwork in color.

There was souch going on that was never explained or simple scratched the surface that it felt like a lot of the story and intrigue was missing. Due to that it made the story really boring. The ending wasn't great either because it was just simply fixed with a wave of a hand and "I'm not going to ask how you managed this".
Fun art and a fast paced read! But the characters are reduced down in a very flat way—we know very little about them. It’s been a long time (probably a decade?) since I read the original novel, and i felt like this version did the world and characters a disservice. Again, wildly good art. Would recommend it to someone who hadn’t read the original book but enjoys a lively fantasy story!

I love the premise and the artwork is beautiful. I'll look at the published edition to see if it's different. I'd love to read the novel this based on.

I liked this a lot, especially the art style. It took me a little while to properly get in to the story, but once I was there, I enjoyed it a lot. The story makes it seem like there is going to be more, but since it is based on a novel that was published in 2010, it seems unlikely that there will be more, but who knows? I would like to read more of this story if it happens.
